As many people are kind of scratching their heads wondering why Apple didn't take the iPad to the next level, it seems that there are as ever a whole bunch of people out there having their little poke at Apple, so with apologies to those Apple lovers.

Oh btw, link

I have been chatting with the owners of the company, for some very strange reason they have been asking me for advice [:0]

As such, please take a moment to give your thoughts and ideas HERE please.

The first comment to that post says it all

It's going to be running Android out of the box, but it can run multiple OS's, including Apple ones, but not Windows.

I think the point is, the iPad is targeted at your mother, not a Linux geek. You mum wants something she can turn on, like a microwave, and it does the job without needing to understand config files, boot loaders, bios, or any of that gubbins associated with netbooks, laptops, etc. I get that you want a piece of hardware you can tinker with, but you ain't the target market.

Actually, I don't want a piece of hardware I can tinker with, I want a piece of hardware that does what I need it to do in this case act as a mobile computer for me on trips, something I can plug SD cards into to use as storage for photos and as a movie screen for flights, or a book on the beach.

IMHO Apple will sell millions of the IPads just because of the name and the simple interface, but I don't think it will be the best Tablet on the market.

You'll need a small computer then. Maybe a netbook, or if that's not got the oomph for the job, look at a laptop.

I looked at them, the battery life and the 'book' feature just isn't there for me.

Once there are a few tablets to really play with in the stores I will make my choice, but right now it really isn't a secret as to which one I am leaning towards.

It looks like the ipad isn't going to be for me.

The annoying thing, the very annoying thing is, because its from Apple and its got an 'i' in it, there are going to be some killer apps written for it that 'probably' wont be available for any slate type machine.
