Due to a change of plan I found it necessary to bite the bullet and change the time of our Virgin America flight from SEA to SFO. Very easy to do, but for a painful change fee. There was a little bit of an upside though; as the price of the flight had fallen since I first booked it, the reduction was factored into the total cost of the change. making it just "painful" instead from "very painful".

I know that easyJet offers a "difference in air fare + fee" process over here, but I've never actually seen their fares fall to test whether they would give money back..

And don't forget, if you leave OLCI till 6 hours before departure you may be able to upgrade to First Class. I'm not sure whether SEA-SFO would be considered short or medium haul, but for me, when I flew from LAS to SFO the upgrade cost me only $20 once I'd factored in the cost of my bags.

Thanks for the tip. I did wonder whether I could have worked some similar magic when making the change, but that pesky change fee kept popping up.
