Thanks

The outbound menu is at the top of the very first post on the first page. It is in te same post as the inbound just slightly above it!

Thanks Neil, I didnt realise it had been updated :)

Are you able to pick your food choice online before boarding or is it just pot luck on the day that you get your meal choice? The lamb sounds great but not to sure about the Ham hock, hope they dont run out of lamb before they get to me! :(

Really though, for the cost of flying UC shouldnt your meal choice be a very basic thing? I think I might be just a tad miffed if I cant have what I originally picked.

You cannot pick your choice online - only on the day. If one choice is short, Flying Club status is used to work out who to ask to make a second choice.

You can't pick your meal choice at any point before your flight.

In a way it is pot luck, but we have never not received our first choice meal, although I know other members have. The meals are usually served from front to back, so if it is a major issue for you the pick a seat at the front.

I wouldn't worry about it too much though, and if they did ask you to change your meal if you explained that there is really nothing else you could eat (if that were the case) then I am sure the crew would do their best to help you out.

Doesn't make a difference Neil where people are sat in the cabin - it does all depend on status.

Thanks for clarifying Tink. I wondered if it was a case of last to order, last to get, but FC status makes much more sense.

Out of interest, what if you don't have a persons FC number, so say an Au member who has upgraded with miles, doesn't have their FC linked to their booking?

Well if when asked to make another choice, they mentioned that they were Au, then someone else would be asked.

Thanks for that bit of information, Tinks

Thanks Tink. I'm sure I am going to luck out, especially on the inbound flight - I think most people will go for the beef so I think I will be able to have the chicken. Also, just had a look at the outbound menu again & it actually seems quite nice, I think I will be fine even with the ham - afterall when you read it in simple terms its just ham covered in cheese with roast sweet potatoes :D

Really looking forward to this expereience now & feel like a kid waiting for Christmas lol!

Hope you enjoy both your flight and your meal - I've been hearing so many positive comments onboard about the menu.

I hadn't realised the relationship between status and choice - though fully appreciate why - so it looks like it'll be no first choice for yours truly. Never mind though, the three options both out and in look fine...

Just flew out on VS015 and had the new UC menu. I know Tinks will put it on a sticky in detail but decided to give you my thoughts and some info.

Starters
Smoked Halibut, Salmon and marinated prawn with radish and shiso cress and balsamic lemon dressing.
or
Caulflower and herb soup with vegetable crisps

I had the former and it took longer to read than eat, very small portion with only one prawn but it was quite nice.

Main Course
Brasied Beef Wellington with Rosemary Jus, Dauphinoise Potatoes, roasted root vegetables and wilted baby spinach.
or
Fennel and mushroom risotto with paprika and garlic roasted chicken, red pesto and truffle oil.

Sure there was another option but can't remenber it. I had the beef which was a large plateful, for some it could be a little dry but I really liked it.

Dessert
Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding
or
Chocolate Orange Tart.

I skipped dessert and had the cheese plate which was slightly different than usual as it came with Oatcakes and Damsel Wafers (a bit like black tortilla chips).

Only wine I remember is the one I had which was a Chilean Cab Sav - full of flavour and very sleep inducing

Also made a list of the IFe (Nova) both ways if anyone wants it.
