Kids in the Clubhouses

I will be travelling to Boston Upper Class with my 11 year old son later this month. Will he be allowed in the Heathrow and Boston Clubhouses?

Only if he can serve beer :w .

LHR certainly, there's even a children's play area if you hadn't noticed, although he'll be too old for that!

BOS I don't know but cannot see why not.

LHR CH will be ideal:
Game of Pool, Video games, Space invader table etc..
free sweets and nibbles,

He's on a UC ticket so should get all that adults get..in terms of access..

Yes he will be allowed in if you are travelling in UC. He certainly wouldn't be the youngest allowed in and it is not uncommon to see infants and toddlers there. Read mdvipond's trip reports. He is a seasoned traveller with his daughter since she was the tender age of about 16 weeks

not sure if he can have a treatment in the spa though but check the VS websites CH pages. I think some are 16+

I think Tizers exploits in the CH and UC maybe a tad young. Am not sure how many 11 yr olds would appreciate their parents throwing M&Ms at them to keep them still for take off !

Well to be fair, Neil only had his first wet shave on a flight earlier this year and he is nearly 30.... 8D

Realistically though, with a flight at 15:05, you might be hard pressed not to get bored if you arrive at 7.

I'd say that's about the right length of time to plan on.

There is only so much you can (or would want to) eat and drink during that time.

A treatment would only fill up a max of 30 mins. A wander round duty free etc will fill in another 30 mins or so.

It all depends on your son too - how easily does he get bored?

Plus the longer you are there the more chance of boredom and 'is it time to go yet' syndrome will set in.

I'd say you're doing quite alright, Neil. With average life expectancy in Hull being 23, you're well ahead of the pack...

So if we aim to get to Heathrow for about 10 ish that should be fine if we start boarding at 2 ish. Is there a fast track for check in and security for upper class or should we allow the usual up to an hour at worst to get through to sanctuary at the bar

Flying UC means you can use the UC check-in desks and the private security channel.

The check-in staff will tell you where it is and how to access it (you flash your boarding pass at a little camera)

It is the same as 'normal' security so no liquids of more than 100ml or any of the usual other restricted items. The advantage is that they deal only with a few VS pax so its a lot quicker.

In August it took me exactly 15 minutes to get from the Central Bus Station in LHR to the Clubhouse. If the UC desks are busy you might be sent upstairs to check in at the DTCI area which has happened to me on a couple of occasions including that one
