Mates Fares Upgrades

Sorry if this has been covered before, I couldn't find the answer I was looking for when I did a search.

Can someone please let me know if it is possible to upgrade (pay) a PE Mates fare to Upper Class?

I have called Reservations twice, once I was told no and the second time yes but I have to pay for a full fare PE ticket followed by a full fare UC ticket! That can't be right

I trust someone here will let me know once and for all.

Do you mean a 'companion' fare? Because the rules for this are quite complex and someone with more kmowledge will be along soon with the answer to that one.

If you simply mean that your mate has a ticket in PE and wants to upgrade then yes he will have to pay to get his ticket (probably in the K bucket) into an upgradable bucket AND then pay to upgrade to UC

My mate works for VS and has allowed me to book a PE Return Mates Ticket for DXB.

I'm not sure if you also call a Mates Fare a Companion fare, like UA where I work!!

By "Mates" I take it you mean a employee "Mates Rate" fare?

If it is, you'll need to speak to the employee who got it for you as that side is a bit of an unknown quantity. Plus, putting details on here might be against VS's policy for 'social network sites'.

Staff and Companion fares are very different

Staff fare rules are probably even more complex than 'normal' ones.

Your friend should ask a superviser at Crawley to get chapter and verse. Getting it wrong could prove very expensive !
