Sadly my wonderful winter break to the sunshine state has become just that - a break. A fall at Animal Kingdom has resulted in me breaking my left arm. I have decided to wait until I get home for the surgery and the doctor has given me a note to say I may fly. I am in a heavy type of cast and sling.Does anyone know please if I should inform Virgin before my flight on Monday 7th or is there anything else I need to do before turning up at Orlando airport ?
Thank you.
A dismal hiljil :(

I broke my wrist on Christmas day 2009 and Virgin let me fly home as i had a flexible cast rather than the rigid plaster type cast to accomodate the swelling changes during the flight.

If you can get your X rays on a CD (DICOM format) or film that tends to speed the process along in the UK.

And to echo Paul's point about getting a flexible cast (or if not at least get the cast split by the hospital before getting on the flight)

Hmmm are the two connected? :o) :o)

But you did the right thing by checking it was ok to fly before getting to the airport which is what I think a lot of people do.

Get better soon!

Fetching! Can I ask how you fell at Animal Kingdom? Just checking there isn't a hazard we should try and avoid!

It was at the end of the production of the Lion King. I stood up and went to move forward (you sit in tiers on bleachers - and yes I ended up almost in tears )and I stepped over the bench in front and how/why I pitched downwards I don't know but my arm and leg hit the metal side of the seat. Ouch. And I hadn't been drinking !So if when you go there is a new announcement at the end of the show telling you NOT to step over the seat in front you will know why !!!
