My guess is VS are strapped for cash at the moment and fairly heavily into survival. They need to get investment I would imagine. Currently selling economy return ex Delhi for around £200. Yield can't be much on that but it's cash in the bank.

No matter how tired UCS is I'd say it's ahead of BA NCW often sold at a higher price on Indian routes.

They do remarkably well with what they've got - most UC passengers out here last Saturday were remarkably happy on Jetstreamer despite it's limitations because of the work of a good crew- an assest they must not loose if they are to survive

Which limitations, exactly?

I think there are still decisions to be made by VS. My reasoning for this view is that it is odd that c/n1201 which is G-VKSS is currently flying around with the green colour primer all over her. The rudder is not even painted in VS red, it is my understanding (and pretty much every picture of a factory fresh aircaft on a.net supports this) that if the aircrafts future carrier is known then the rudder is painted in that carriers colours, as JWhite points out, to get the colouring all correct. This is most odd in my book. Couple that with the fact that aircraft later in the line to G-VKSS are already in their full livery and things begin to look a bit odd.

Aircraft 1 and 2 dont necessarily look to be heading to VS. By production line numbers that is G-VSXY and G-VKSS. G-VSXY has already been confirmed by CI to be in service with them, they even have a seat map on their website, and G-VKSS looks decidely dodgy given the above.

THen there is the issue of Astraeus already advertising G-VINE for ACMI work.

So by my reckoning 3 x 330 (plane numbers 1, 3 and 4 in the order) are off to CI (as confirmed by various fleet listings and the CI seat layout website) and 1 x330 is off to Astraeus for ACMI work. That leaves 1 x 330 for VS but as explained above until I see the red rudder on the back of that bird I wont believe it.

I just still cannot believe the lack of forward planning by VS on this. This order was finalised 13 months ago in the middle of the economic downturn and is hardly years ago when the market/climate couldn't be accurately predicted. In January 2010 VS must have had forecasts as to where they expected to be by say April 2011 (when first plane arrives) and even then when ordering, given the climate this time last year, you would have been at least cautious. I wonder if VS ever intended to take these aircraft factory fresh or if the plan was always to lease them out? I hope the plan was to lease them out factory fresh as I would be seriously worried by what exactly has changed in the last 13 months to make them realise they cant take the order.

It could be that the new paint scheme (special paint) can only be applied up in MAN where the other a/c were done?

We're still being told that G-VKSS and G-VSXY will be delivered to us later this month and the next three will go to CI.

Ah, yes. I'm flying UC from IAD to LHR in April and am very much hoping I don't get Jetstreamer or Plane Sailing.

That did cross my mind but dont think the paint would be that specialised that Airbus cannot do it themselves. Surely VS aren't using mega expensive super doper paint in these times of austerity and cutbacks to the in flight service. ): Plus surely its quicker, cheaper and easier to be done at TLS?

I stand corrected in fact- looking back at the links I hvae posted and checking Jethros it appears that G-VSXY which was originally down as going to CI is now back with VS, the information on both sites has been amended accordingly.

Interesting the 3rd 330 (G-VINE) which I am guessing is going to CI also, per your post VB, is still listed with Asteraus as available for ACMI.

Here is a pic of G-VSXY in the primer colour as well. Interestingly she is due for delivery on 22 February. http://nsa25.casimages.com/img/2011/01/ ... 538339.jpg

Out of curiosity, what is Jethros? It's been mentioned a lot in this thread.

Link... :D :D

Appreciate the humor, but I've already tried that and I don't think Jethro's BBQ or ribs is going to hold much relevance to this thread. ;)

Someone sobered up ): .

Seriously though, it looks like some are coming ... I'll be delighted if or when! But it remains another monumental cock-up by VS management, fleet planning in an airline should be a decades into the future thing, VS can't see beyond 12 months.

This is all being based on the fact that the tail hasn't been painted red yet?

G-VSXY and G-VKSS are - certainly according to VS - being delivered to VS later this month - what part of that means VS don't know what they're doing?

I think we should assume they're coming until we hear otherwise!

So if they are to be delivered this month, are we expecting to see them come into service sooner rather than later? Can't imagine VS would want to keep 2 AC on the ground for longer than needed! Wasn't April the expected month for entering service?
