flight to SFO return booked last week YQ amount £157

todays price shows YQ at £181

Such a stupid charge.
I would of thought it would be something the eu would look into, forcing airlines to just have it included in the base fare.
Only reason I can see it being separate in the uk is to get some money from reward bookings...

Sorry, should have posted yesterday morning that it had gone up to match BA to the penny.

As well as getting the money from reward bookings, if you change your date and the ticket has to be re-issued instead of re-validated then they can charge the increased YQ tax.
This is normally when the class you originally booked in is not available so you have to pay to make the change, upgrade the ticket AND the increased tax.

It sneaks some more money into their pockets in a few little ways but I still find it a sneaky little trick.

It's amazing how VS have hedged at the same prices as BA and tickets within days go back to being within £1 difference.

Yes I see the fares in the sale that were available until 15th Feb have gone up by the fuel surcharge amount. That's really annoying altering advertised fares with an end date 7 days before it ends.

A further note on this!
We have just had a revised sale contract with the price of the ticket dropped by £24 to bring the total selling price back to what was advertised. This should filter through throughout the rest of today.

This makes it so obvious that VS were completely taken by suprise by the fuel surcharge increase and they were just reacting to BA.
