Hi - we are travelling back on VS030 tomorrow from BGI in UC. I chose our seat months ago (9A and 10A) and have been checking every now and then to make sure the seats were still there! It has consistently been showing 747 Config 1 with the small UC section which looks perfect! However, I now notice that G-VBIG has been flying the 29/30 nearly every day for the last few weeks which of course is Config 3 with the larger UC cabin. I realise that the actual aeroplane is not published until the incoming has taken off, and would appreciate your advice as to what to do to ensure good seats if we get Config 3 - and by the way which are the best seats for a couple of this Config?? I guess the best thing would be to check in as soon as it opens tonight but could anyone shed any light on the likely type of plane at this stage?

I was the poster who sparked the long exchange re availability of champagne on this flight as it my partner's birthday a couple of hour into the flight and I did want to make it special!

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Anywhere in the A Zone, but for a couple 12A&K work very well.

If the Manage My Booking section of the VS site is still showing a config 1 a/c, then that means they are planning on that a/c type operating your flight still.

The LHR 747 is doing quite a few different routes ex LGW currently, so it is likely they will already have it scheduled in on another route/flight, but things are always open to change.

Thanks,
Neil

How quickly does the aircraft get updated in the 'schedules' in the toolbox then maybe Turquois could check that to see what config did the outbound or is the config listed in OLCI the nmost accurate. Complicated due to time difefrences as well!

Would be better to check the 'status updates' rather than schedules as that has the actual a/c operating the flight a good few hours beforehand.

Hi Turquoise

Expert flyer is showing that, whilst the premium cabins are zero'd across the board for tomorrow's VS30, economy has straight 9s. So if they are actually oversold in PE and UC, they might send the bigger plane. As you say, BIG (and HOT) together have dominated this route for the last few months.

Having got my head around the time difference, I don't think there is much you can do at the minute. OLCI when it opens at around 17.40 Barbados time (21.40 in the UK) but don't print your boarding passes. At that stage you'll either confirm your existing seats or look (and change) what you've been allocated if the aircraft has changed. 16A and 17 A are the equivalent seats in the new config, although I like 12 A and K too.

When you get up in the morning, the outbound will have left the UK (sometime before 7 am Barbados time). You can then check what plane that is, and if its changed to a config 3 you could see if you can change your seat in manage my booking OR get to the airport slightly early. The likelyhood is there will be a good choice of seat as the upper capacity far outstrips what it is on a config 1. with upstairs to pick from too.

PS there is no 10A on a config 3, but 9A is on the upper deck/

Good luck and don't spoil the last of your holiday worrying. Its a night flight and you're in Upper, so there's hardly a bad seat on a config 3 unless people party too hard at the bar.

There is no 9A on the current LHR config. It's 1-5 on the Upper Deck and 12-25 on the Main Deck.

Thanks Tinks

I was going off the config 3 seat maps in the tool box.I knew the config 4 had half economy upstairs now. So is there no difference between config 3 and 4?

Config 3 doesn't exist anymore.

Thanks again Tinks. Looks like site seat maps and links need some updating. Config 3 is still shown in the toolbox and the link for G-VBIG pulls up the same map with an all upper deck.

Looks like it's G-VGAL on the way out so hopefully you got your seat requests.

Enjoy the flight home!
