Upgrade Availability Query

Hi everyone,
I have worked out how to find availability of particular fare classes on the VS website, e.g. L or W, so that I can check for an upgradeable fare with miles. (Took me a while though!)

In order to then upgrade, from either Economy to PE or from PE to UC, do specific fare classes need to be available in the upgraded class or does there just have to be seat availability? I hope that makes sense as it's not very clear on the website.

Yep there does need to be availability in the reward classes (G for upper class and U for premium economy) not just seat availability - this is the same class that full mileage redemptions come out of, so to check availability you can search for full mileage redemptions on the VS website (but you'll need to call to book, is often better to call them to check availability too!)

The VS website tells you it can be done but doesn't tell you about those two fare classes as far as I can see and doesn't give enough detail about to find them anyway. I have tried every which way to work it out.

Just following on from this - it says that are no miles plus money UC fares to Orlando. Does this mean there are no reward seats or upgrades to UC either on this route?

Not necessarily but they are very limited as it's only a small UC cabin on the MAN/LGW - MCO routes (14 seats I think) and VS will want to try and sell these for £££/
