A new Iceland Ash Threat

I feel stressy about this already, and we're due to fly Sunday.

If I was going on a beach holiday I'd be less worried :w

Sunday jet stream does suggest air flow from Iceland BUT
- it is at the limit of the forecast and is as likely to be wrong as right.
- the volcano has a history of brief eruptions so may have dropped considerably in activity by then.

Will get a better idea mid week.

Well at least Barack Obama wasn't put off by it. He's just landed in Dublin

Flying LTN - Berlin on Sunday, returning Tuesday so let's hope it doesn't give us any problems.

I really dislike the news when it comes to things like this.

I'm due to fly out on Thursday evening and if I listen to the news I'm worried! However, I've decided to monitor it as it gets closer to the time.

Same here I'm trying not to worry about it as really there's not a lot I can do. Its going to make for a long week though

My view on this is to be philosophical. There is nothing any of us can do about the location/size of the ash cloud and/or the size of the particles. Some greater forces are at work. So there is no point worrying about something we can have no effect on. [I know that is easier to do for some of us than others.]

The other factor is that the airlines who lost ££millions in the previous debacle last year and paid for tens of thousands of travellers like me to stay an extra week in New York will definitely be working hard to make sure the same does not happen again. The research they did then will help us all on this occasion.

I think it will be alright this time.

3 days ago I book a quick jaunt to the Sunshine state to go out on Sat 28th May - just for a week. NOOOOOOOOOO

Don't mind getting stuck out there, but don't want a 1 week holiday curtailed.

Lesson to all - do not book flights when Spiceke books to MCO !!!!

Most reports I've read are saying even if the cloud comes our way airspace won't be closed so personally I'm not worrying about it. No point worry about something you've no control over anyway

I spent the run up to last years holiday panicking about the ash cloud and we got away okay in the end. So I can't believe I am doing the same again this year though :0

What will be will be. I was going to phone VS about the exit seats but I am refusing to now in case I jinx it all :0

Well Barack Obama is leaving Ireland early tonight in case of disruption as the cloud is expected to drift into Irish air space for a time overnight !

Cityjet have cancelled some flights tomorrow to / from Scotland due to the ash...

Just saw on news BA have cancelled all flights tomorrow between London & Scotland up until 14:00.

Met Office predictions show high density pushing East into North Sea tomorrow but still a stream over Scotland

Don't think there is one at the moment. It's down to individual airlines to decide whether to operate or not - there is no blanket ban like last year - and at present VS have said they are operating normally. I guess it comes to how far south the cloud gets.

So at the moment its a case of wait and see
