Absolutely sweating at gate 28 awaiting boarding Lady Penelope. Air Con? Can barely hold the Blackberry! Tried to upgrade at the ticket desk; they wanted £375 to upgrade my K PE to an S, plus miles on top of that. Too much for me! Missus Monster is on a U which was doable with miles only. Still, PE for JFK is fine - save the miles for a west coast trip... CNN is saying that the volcano has closed Europe - anything to worry about?

You are OK - Europe is not closed though there have been some ash related cancellations and delays in several countries.

President Obama did travel from Ireland to the UK last night rather than this morning though just in case!

Sorry Luke, when he mentioned the £375 I said not to worry about it! (Mrs Monster wasn't as keen to part with the cash!) I'd have hoped that it was less than half the PE - UC mile cost (for one way). CNN are saying that Europe is closed but to be fair this Wolf guy in 'the Situation Room' is hyping everything out of proportion! I hope we board before Nancy Grace comes on - I'm not a fan!

It would have been the standard one way PE-UC mileage upgrade of 20,000 miles.
