My girlfriend is currently enroute to London from Honolulu via Las Vegas. She is flying Hawaiian from HNL to LAS and then Virgin Atlantic from LAS to GTW.

She booked the flights on one booking reference, but I got a report this morning that the Hawaiian staff at HNL would only check her bags through to LAS. Since her layover in LAS is 9 hours, she was hoping to walk around the strip for most of the day but it won't be feasible with two large checked bags.

What is the likelihood that she can check her bags in around 8am for her 4pm flight? Any other options?

You can pay $10 per bag and drop them off at various off-site locations, most of which are on the strip so if she is going that way anyway just get the cab to drop her there.

Luxor Hotel: open 0700hrs-1500hrs. Located on the Business Centre level and next to the VIP check-in area.
Venetian Hotel: open 0700hrs-1500hrs. Located in the main lobby next to the concierge desk.
McCarran Rent-A-Car Centre: check-in open 0700hrs - 1500hrs. Located in the main lobby.
Las Vegas Convention Centre: Located in the central concourse across from Exhibit Hall 3C. (Check-in only available when a convention is running.)
MG Grand Hotel: check-in open 0700 - 1500 hrs. Located in the main lobby next to the bell desk.
Palazzo Hotel: open 0700-1500hrs. Located in the main lobby across from the concierge.

Excellent. She took the bags to MGM grand and is now free to walk about Las Vegas!

Matt - you could get your girlfriend to stand in front of the las Vegas sign and wave...... See below

Lol I'm probably the only person who would love to do this!
