Great price! I am seeing £409 to upgrade from PE to UC for a JRK return in Sept, which I thought good for UC, so some good upgrade fares at the moment.

Out of curiosity (as someone that normally books VS flights through a 3rd party so never sees an upgrade option...), does the cash upgrade also only apply to Y/B/L tickets, as it would if you wanted to use miles?

Or could you get the option to upgrade using any ticket bucket if you're paying cash?

If I could get away with paying rock bottom for an N/O class fare and still have a chance of getting a cheap PE upgrade, it makes me think I need to book direct in future!

that sounds like an absolute bargain, but because I still learning how to do this, the ticket you first bought was a Y. when you book this do you ask for that class?

also how has it worked out in cash terms? what would have been the cost of pe vs economy? if you paid bottom rates?

that price was to upgrade a X to a K so any fare is up-gradable with cash if the option is there.

sorry stated Y as the 'usual' code for Economy originally my ticket was an X so it was the lowest of the low fares available when booked.

I have no idea how this works out on a basic PE fare but i am certain that with this price the upgraded X-K is cheaper

I think you have to phone VH and ask them as they are a seperate company to VS and it is them who you have booked with.

I think they should be able to do this for you but don't expect a price under £100
as a previous post says this is a very rare price for an upgrade

just worked it out.

I paid £286 per person for the original X Return LHR-JFK
Paid £95 a few weeks ago to upgrade the JFK-LHR sector to K
Just paid £75 to up the LHR-JFK to K

this gives a return Premium Econony (K) for £455 (assuming i have done my maths correctly ?| )

currently a PE LHR-JFK return on the same dates is showing as £643

that is a saving of £188 per person.

Quite a good deal when worked out y) :D :D
