A new feature on the VS website.

Will download it and give it a try.

My first thought is about the feature Track your route using GPS technology one of the most accurate tracking solutions available
Surely if you are on the plane, you phone / iPad has to be in flight safe mode? Does GPS still work in flight safe mode?

No, GPS is disabled in Airplane mode on the iPhone.

Thanks for the info Nick, will download later and give it a try.

Even if GPS did work in airplane mode, the drain on the battery would be huge!

You could connect it to the seat power I guess , but I think this app is for tracking what you do when you arrive at your destination, not for tracking the flight. I seem to remember some safety briefing that mentioned no GPS once, Even though GPS doesn't send any signals. Phone GPS is usually a bit weak, and I doubt it would work in the metal confines of a plane anyway!

Nope, GPS really uses little energy itself, it's the screen that saps the life out of the battery.
