Change from Fare Code U to P

I booked a PE reward flight (Lon to Montego Bay) which was booked as normal on fare code U. VA have just advised a change to my flight times (which hadn't changed) but my code has to "P"? I can't see this code is used for PE and I didn't think VA used the code at all- anyone got any ideas why the change?

As of Aug 25th, VS changed a couple of their fares codes (an Upper Class R fare is now an I fare for example).

Your change is probably related to this. I wouldn't worry about it.

No one knows the exact reason for these changes but it could possibly be down to VS realigning their fares ready to join an alliance?

There have been a few changes lately, but can't seem to find a confirmed list on the VS site.

U is now P
R is now I
R now seems to be a economy fare (looks like 4th highest and eligible for mileage upgrades).

That last point is interesting Neil - something cheaper than an L that's upgradeable with miles? I guess time will tell around just much cheaper it actually is as I can't see any way to specifically search for 'new R' flights on the website...

I tried an 'I' search yesterday which was fruitless too ...

'I' fares are loaded into the VS website, search for an Upper Class (lowest) fare, then select 'Lowest Upper Class fare with chauffeur driven ground transfer'

R's dont' seem to be showing on ITA when using their routing code language...

I've just had a request to acknowledge a change of flight - but the time, date, and route hadn't changed. I phoned FC and they told me that this was to acknowledge a change of fare from U to P - not that the request told me this until I'd accepted it
