I'm about to lose my Au card and will be heading to the dark and dank world that is silver... :( and I thought there used to be a sticky Tier Point guide - but can't see it anywhere (and I have searched the forum to no avail).

Can someone give me a link to the guide pls?

Thx.

There is this, but please do bear in mind that it is out of date in terms of the number of TP's that each fare code earns now (and also probably the renewal amount required)

Thanks for that Neil. And now of course a question :D !

I've earned 16 points in my current (membership year rolls over about/expires Sept 30) membership year, and at that point don't have enough points to retain Au ?|

How many points to I start the new (as of Oct 1st)with?

I have some points from last Oct 15-30th 2010 - Do they "evaporate" this Oct 15th/30th etc, or do they stay put for the entire NEW (as of Oct 1st 2011) membership year?

Obviously I need to get to 40 for Au again, I'm trying to work out what happens to my existing points.

I may be wrong, and I am sure there are others who will be able to clarify 100%, but I believe you will start the 1st October with 0 TP's. The 13 month rolling period is only there to help you renew, so on the 31st October you won't have hit your renewal target of 40 and therefore you start afresh.

As I said, I do STBC on this.

I thought that points reverted to zero only if you were remaining at Au? Could be wrong....?

For tier upgrades the rolling 12-13 months applies and so points earned in Oct 2010 would be counted until the end of Oct 2011. It doesn't sound like this will help you much.

No - not the ones from Oct 2010.

Also remember that the rules for renewals are different. The rules are quite opaque but I belive that for renewals you simply have to accrue the requisite number of tier points in the membership year. So if you go to Silver on 1/10/11 you have until 31/10/12 to earn 15 tier points to renew. Previously earned tier points don't apply.

I don't think these were the answers you hoped to hear... sorry.

Hi Vizbiz

I think the stuff about keeping your TPs is as in the example where:

> You start your FC year in say Jan,
> Achieve Ag with 15 TPs by say July,
> Then go on to get another 25 TPs between July and Dec/Jan
> Giving a total of 40 to reach Au

Hence the first 15 that get you to Ag stay and are "re-used" to get you to Au.

As At240 and others note, once you go past the 13 month year end, the counter is set back to zero.
