Hi I am looking at booking a flight from heathrow to Washington in June next year in economy. At the moment price is £531 m+m or £588 lowest fare, I not sure if this is good for that time of year or not?!? Do these flights normally go in the December sale? Currently flights up to end march are £421 in the sale, I know prices have gone up so am not sure if £500 + is now the norm? I was hoping for closer to £450, hope some of you experts out there can offer some pearls of wisdom?

Thanks

Whats the price to IAD on BA/DL/UA that will give you an idea to compare against.

How anxious are you to book? If you need the 'comfort' then book now, if not and you can wait for the next sale then wait.

Though not every route features in a sale and of course prices can go up as well as down.

I'd personally play the waiting game. In May of this year I had a flight to IAD, back from BOS at roughly £650-£700 and that was in PE! Econ were £420. Obviously if you need to be there on certain dates and without knowing the loads, it's at your own risk.

I think I will wait and see what happens as my dates are flexible. I am not bothered about going PE as it's only me going so economy will be fine. Will just have to keep an eye on those prices!

hi bluesky

To be honest, it doesn't look like a brilliant fare, but ...

... it is incredibly hard to answer the kind of question you ask, because even if we have a sense of whether or not the fare you quote is high or low, no one here can really have any idea whether or not it will come down further in the future.

Even if there is a sale, and even if it does apply to this route for the period you want to travel, we can't predict how quickly tickets will sell for the dates you want. Nor can we know for sure what prices in general will be like next year -- there are often surprises! Nor can we know how bad it would be for you if the fare increased in the meantime -- for some people that would merely be annoying, for others it might make a trip totally impossible.

So the advice you are getting is quite cautious - and rightly so!

Anyhow, good luck searching :)
