The VS7 is showing as a 744 next summer and the VS23 a 346 so it really does come down to personal preference with regards to aircraft type and timings.

I personally have no preference between the Boeing or the Airbus (though I know others do and will argue over it).

The service, meals, bar etc are the same so I would make my decision based on the departure / arrival times and how they suit my plans rather than aiming to be on a particular flight.

i prefer the airbus but with the timings of the flights i would go for the 7

For comfort the Airbus, for me, wins hands down. It's just so much quieter and smoother than the loud, rattly 747 and I prefer the cabin ambience. But it's a close one, the nose zone in UC on a 747 is so spacious, the UCS are wider too on the 747.

That said, the 7 arrives at a much more agreeable time so I would normally take that whatever the aircraft.

That said the 23 might be better for jetlag as it'll be at least 8.30pm (4.30am by your body clock) by the time you get to the hotel, so you should be getting a good nights sleep and then be up fairly normally the next morning. If you get the 7 you'll be fighting to stay awake all afternoon.

A ditto from me too (at least if you're staying overnight in the LA area and don't have far to travel onwards). I usually use the VS 7 but flew on the VS23 a few weeks ago - I was much better in the am having slept until a reasonable time (6am US time as opposed to being wide awake at 2am US time which I usually am on the VS 7).
The 747 is pretty noisy compared to the Airbus but I'd still rather fly on the 747 :) .

I hope this rings true when we fly the 23 next summer :-)

Which one is better for UC?

To be honest, there's not a lot in it.

If it's a choice between different aircraft, then the Airbus always wins. I find it a lot quieter -- and to me that is a significant advantage.

Having said that, I tend to agree with slinky that the time of the 7 is better. You don't need to sleep on the plane and you should be able to stagger through to a decent time in the evening.

Thanks for all the replies.

I have no onward plans that day when I get to LAX so the 23 is looking like my choice as I also find I would sleep better arriving later.

Thanks again

How tall are you BM? If under 6'2, then no-brainer, the Airbus... If 6'2 or above, upstairs on the 744 wins for me. Not only wider, but the suites are actually longer up there in bed-mode.

That said, having just done the 23 in upper, the quietness is an advantage. Oh, and if you're travelling alone, you can get the advantage of a little more privacy through the existence of "the wall" ;-)

Under 6'2" and travelling with Mrs BM.

Booked the 23.

Chose seats 2A, 3A outbound, 15A 16A return (on the 747-which now leaves 16:30 )

Thanks for all the replies.
