I don't know why, but this online check in has refused to check me in for the third flight with VS in a row! Last month it was the same thing VS300 and VS301. Both times I tried to check in 24hrs before. The error message was that 'unfortunately we cannot check you in at this time. Please report to the Airport Check In counters at least two hours prior to scheduled departure' or something like that. I called the flying club helplines on both occasions, I ended up waiting for 15 mins the first time and 20 mins the second time. They explained the reasons why they couldn't do anything to help - fair enough. I turned up at the airport a whole 3 hours before departure to find that the only PE seats left available were mid centre! (I only travel in A or K ): )

History seems to be repeating itself. I was online, PNR number copied and ready to be pasted, and at 21.50 exactly, 24 hours before VS3000 is scheduled for departure, I tried to check in. It told me the same ruddy thing! I tried to phone the call centre. It took 24 mins to be told the same. I haven't changed the dates, the payment went through (obviously!), I was checking in early so the allotted seats for OLCI couldn't have been snapped up at all, and there is no one on this planet (according to facebook at least!) that has my name. So WTH can I not check in?! I had just come in from a stressful meeting and an overful BD flight to get home, and this is what I get for being loyal to Virgin. Even poor old BD can handle OLCI for me without a problem, and I am not even a high grade Frequent Flyer with them (bodes well that I'm in good standing with BA then after all!)

3 times in a row is just evil. v( I'm sorry but there simply is no excuse. Especially when I will probably end up for the 3rd time (thats 30hrs of flying and 3 hrs of swanning around on the taxiways) stuffed in a middle seat :0 . I expect they'll fob me off with ''security reasons'' again...

Its 22:43 now, and having followed the advice of nice call centre lady (she was just as confuddled as I was) to try again an hour later (I know its not a full hour, but I will repeat the process soon), I was met with the same aggrovating error message.

Sorry for the rant. It is becoming an unfortunate trend with my postings - I promise, I'm not like that normally ;) But now, I've been up since 3am after a rotten night's sleep, traipsing around scotland after BD's sardine-packed flights, and I have to keep vigil infront of the church of macbook now for the God of VS OLCI to bless me with an all seeing seat on his right(or left)-side.

oo)

Your itinneray has you flying LHR-DEL on the 17th so you would be 24hrs too early to do OLCI if you are doing it now ?| ?|

It does seem strange though. I'd check your API info against your FC info - maybe a minor error in your details.

Maybe someone with a similar name is on a watch list - not sure how you can resolve that though. Does India have a similar redress system to the US?

I forgot to modify the itinerary - I am departing on the 16th, I entered the wrong date on here :0 sorry about that!

This used to happen to an old colleague of mine. He couldn't check in online and whenever we travelled to the States, he was pulled for further checks by immigration. After a bit of investigation on the web, it turns out he shared a name with a convicted drug smuggler. Despite different ages and passport numbers the authorities deemed it necessary for these extra security checks.

I am wondering these days more and more about the love affair for all things VS that I had... B) but they do have a way of making everything better just when the last straw has been reached. I hope they do make it better though - in whatever case, it will be written up in a TR soon.

I LOVE Virgin... VS300 is oversold tonight, PE is oversold by 10. Got to the check-in desk over three hours in advance (as above), and the lovely lady PE check in was very understanding when I explained the OLCI predicament. As I explained, she first had a very understanding face, and then as she looked at my booking, she began to smile. I stopped mid-sentence and asked her whether something was up. She said - YOU are sir. You've been upgraded :) How happy am I :) :) And, after having listened to all the heartache, she continued: how would you like to use our clubhouse tonight as well? I said I thought that wasn't possible on upgrades. She said just give me a sec - one quick call later, I was on my way to the CH, from which I write now. Happy Days :)

Excellent result! y)

Now, I suppose everyone who is having difficulty with OLCI will start expecting an op-up :w

Its doing it to me now. First time flown from LHR for ages and I don't like the idea of losing my seat. The person on the upper helpline assured me that the booking was fine and that I wouldn't lose my seat if I checked in at the airport...

I don't believe their excuse that theres limited checkin amounts, what did they fill those up in the 1 minute past the checkin opening? I guess its their it system being crap...

What's a limited check-in amount?

Perhaps they mean there's a limited number who can check in online before the system stops people doing OLCI? That doesn't sound very plausible!

I think there may be some law/rule that states they have to check in in person a certain percentage of passengers? This probably old and no longer in use, but if its right, still can't see it affecting OLCI. As not everyone will do it anyway.

Which does indeed sound implausible, the 60% rule for check in perhaps now?
