Premium Seat widths

I was wondering, as a frequent-ish flyer from Gatwick and looking forwards to the much awaited cabin upgrade.

Are the new seats wider or narrower than the current ones ? It looks like they have more space due to a narrower central arm but its hard to tell without seeing it 1st hand.

Also are the arms fixed, or can they be raised.

Sorry if this has been covered before - I have searched but couldnt find an answer.

Not sure about the width, though I'm sure I read somewhere the new Premium seat is slightly wider.

The arm rests are fixed on every PE seat as the table is stored in the arm rests.

I thought the cloth Man/LGW PE seats seemed wider, probably because they sagged into the middle.
The new PE leather seats are very firm in comparison, width-wise not sure. but least you are guaranteed allocated legroom and no worn out seat in infront dropping back onto your knees.

I think the width seemed the same as the old PE seat. Didn't think the same about the leg room which felt a lot less, but then that was on the A330...

So does this mean the current, old style LGW PE seats have poor leg room?

I will be less than impressed if there is poor leg room on my Vegas flight in July, as one of the reasons ( in fact the primary reason) for me booking PE is more room...

I do think that leg room is often more to do with how inconsiderate the passenger is in front v(

On our recent trip to Orlando, we were lucky enough to have exit rows there and back, but I did notice that when seats on the PE upper deck are fully reclined, that the poor person behind has little space around the knees.

Provided the person in front is reasonable, the PE seats, both old and new offer that personal space you pay for

No, I meant they've got more leg room. I was referring to the new PE having less. The person in front reclined and the seat was touching my knees.

The PE seat on the LHR fleet was said to be the widest of its type on launch, at 21", so definitely not narrower than the old cloth seats.

As to legroom, it should be the same 38" as the existing LGW fleet but for me it feels like more because the seat isn't as bulky in all regards. That said, there are reports that the A333s had legroom in PE pinched for some reason ... I hope VS keep to their advertized standard with the LGW refits.

Quite a lot of the old MAN/LGW PE seats have a lot of extra "play" in them, especially if the person in front is of "a larger build", meaning many have a habit of reclining past the normal....much to the annoyance of those sat behind... n(

This is the problem with measuring "pitch". You can have a 38" seat pitch but that doesn't relate directly to how much LEG room I have between the front of your seat and the back of the person in front's...

I am only 5'1" and when reclined the new LHR PE seats hit my knees, John was nearly crushed. The seats in front were not even fully reclined!

My son and daughter flew LGW-MCO and back into LHR both agreed that on the LGW flight they both had a lot more room. Neither were impressed.

It'll be a brave airline that starts stating "knee room"

And I haven't got fat knees!
