Hi

We have booked VS051 K class Premium Economy Gatwick to Grenada 3rd Jan 2013 OUT and
VS052 K class Premium Economy Grenada to Gatwick 12th February 2013 BACK.

I have am currently a Flying Club Red member with 22862 miles and my wife is currently a Flying Club Red member with 11295 miles.

We would like to upgrade to upper class for our return journey using our miles, so can anyone tell us if this is possible and what price we should expect to pay?

Thanks
gbysea

Welcome to V-Flyer.

To upgrade your flight with miles, you have to be in a qualifying bucket, and unfortunately K isn't one of them.

The system is explained quite well here _

Assuming you have booked direct with VS, give the Flying Club a call for an exact quote on how much it will cost.

If you have booked through a Travel Agent, I am pretty sure they will have to sort it for you, but I have never booked with a TA so am not sure.

Hi gbysea, and welcome.

Yes, you can, but you'll need to call Virgin up and ask to have your tickets upgraded (with cash) to an "S" class first. (which may not be too cheap)

Then, you can use miles to upgrade - check here: http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/fr ... e_2012.jsp

But be warned, you'll need 12,500 per sector (each way) per ticket to go from Premium Economy, so your wife will need to either earn another 1,205 miles or you can buy/gift them for her using Virgin's point purchase programme.

All that said, by the time you've done it, you MAY be better off just asking Virgin the cost to upgrade your tickets to a low upper class one - a "Z"... With the sales on right now, it might actually be cheaper!
