I've just booked extra legroom seats for our return flight from Orlando on June 15th (VS74) and am wondering why it's not possible to get your seat allocation before check in, you can't even select them by doing online check in, which seems a little odd given that they must know which aircraft is operating by then.
Looks like we will have to go to Downtown Disney to check in as soon as it opens at 08.15 to have a chance of a row of 3 seats, going by the legroom locations thread. Is there any point at all in doing online check in?
Apparently we are the only ones to have pre booked the extra legroom seats for that flight so far, I guess that most pax are VH/TCD customers and don't get told they can prebook, do they flog them at check in / give them away or what?

I would have booked them on the outbound flight (VS75) too but they are all rows of 2 seats and all at the back of the aircraft, I detest sitting at the back when going to MCO, it just takes too long to get off.

Welcome to V-Flyer.

The ability to pre-book extra leg room seats is still a relatively new concept. Until recently they were only available at check in.

I assume they are still working on the fine tuning of it.

The pre-booking / pre-requesting of seats is, and always has been. a thorny subject. People who have requested seats months in advance often have them changed for no apparent reason close to flight time.

There are a number of long threads about the current inability to request seats on a large number of flights.
