Great product but nothing like UC in terms of seat etc (think big comfy armchair with 8 seats in the cabin). If you have a look there are a good few TRs (mine included :) ) .

Do check the TRs, and I don't think you'll find anyone here who would argue for another airline over VX where they fly the same route.

I flew first class from SFO to San Diego, and then again just in the 'main cabin' a couple of years back.

First class seats were very comfortable but the experience was pleasant rather than something to get excited about. No comparison to the VS UC product. However I always seek out if VX has the route if I'm travelling within the US as they are a very very good airline, even without booking those eight front seats :)

I haven't been on Virgin America yet, our first time will be LAX-SEA this summer.

However I can recommend JetBlue from personal experience. We're using them on a transcon between San Diego and JFK this summer.

Have flown once in first class. Difficult to compare because a very different sort of flight, but for me it was comfortably ahead of Virgin Atlantic. Food better, service better, seat more comfy, and IFE much better.

I'll go back to that which I said above, if you compare VX first class to any other domestic US carrier's first class (apart from UA or AA's transcon services on three class wide bodies for example), then VX is head and shoulders above.

Compare 38" seat pitch to 55" seat pitch.
Compare on demand IFE to usually no IFE.
Compare WiFi to usually no often WiFi on say UA, apart from AA who seem to have got a good handle on this.
Compare old, surly FAs to young attentive FAs.
Compare old, stained aircraft interiors to modern and clean aircraft interiors.

There are exceptions, such as Jet Blue who sometimes come close with their extra leg room offering to compare to VX main cabin select, but then Jet Blue by and large does not compete on VX routes.

The only reason not to fly VX where there is a legacy competitor, is if it is way cheaper or your miles whoring dictates that you do.

So no, it's not VS Upper Class but it is way ahead of VS PE.
