Hi Guys,

I'm looking to travel to Vegas in March 2013 as a means to get some post winter sun and the OH wants to show me as he's been before and loved it.

We are looking at booking an air/hotel package deal with MGM. Flying out on VS043 March 4th and returning VS044 March 8th. Compared to the current econ airfare (assume Y) on the VS website (circa £2kea,) were being quoted £625ea airfare and a basic room at the Monte Carlo on a room only basis. There are probably better hotels to stay at in Vegas but as long as its on the south end of the strip and it's clean I'm happy as I would rather spend time seeing Vegas rather than my hotel room.

Anyway does anyone know what fare code these econ tickets fall under? Between us we have just over 25000 Flying Club miles so were hoping to upgrade the return sector to PE seats. But if this is heavily discounted/travel agent coded ticket it's unlikely we can use our miles.

Also having not purchased VS tickets through a 3rd party before, are still able to add the flights to our online flying club accounts using the ticket reference? Or do we need to show our Flying Club cards at checkin to get our miles?

Hi and welcome to V-Flyer

You are almost certain to find the air/ hotel package you have on offer is on a fare basis that is not upgradable (it does of course depend on the tour company you are thinking of going with to be absolutely precise)

In addition, LAS flights tend to be pretty full most times, so even if you were in the right fare bracket you might find Reward availability pretty scarce and having tried a dummy booking on those dates, PE is not available on the 8th

The reason why there is such is difference in the prices is because the dates of your travel do not include a Saturday night which makes a huge difference in the price.

If you are set on your dates, the only way to get back in PE is to book with VH and pay for the upgrade

Hi VegasFlyer,
Just interested what 3rd Party you are looking at using to book the trip??
I always look at VH first though over the years Expedia have had some cracking deals in the past flying with VA. The fare basis will be the lowest you can get with Expedia in my experience tho so don't expect to be able to upgrade the tickets.
Have a great time!!

The purpose why there is such is change in the costs is because the times of your journey do not consist of a Sunday evening which creates a significant change in the cost.

I'm not sure what your idea of post winter sun is but at that time of year it's very unlikely to be 'pool weather' and it will be chilly at night.

Absolutely, I was there late February this year and it was not warm. Daytime in the low 60s and night time around 45.

Went in late March early April 2008. Five days of beautiful sunshine but it was not hot and also was very windy. Even the kids never wore shorts. We were told it was a nice time to visit though because the 'pool party crowd' had arrived yet.

You are going early March though and it is different to early April!
