Need some help. Thinking of staying overnight at Gatwick before our flight next Easter. Can I use VA air miles for a stay at the Hilton ??

Thx

Chris

Yes but not directly.

You would need to transfer miles from your FC account to your HH account.

See the spend miles section

Flying Club members can exchange their miles for HHonors points which can then be redeemed for HHonors rewards such as free hotel nights, experimental rewards, premium merchandise and much much more.

Exchange miles at a rate: 1 Flying Club mile for 2 HHonors point.

not used this myself so dont know if its a good deal or not

A quick test booking for 1 night at the Hilton at LGW on 29th March 2013 shows you could book a room for £71 (+tax) or 30,000 HHonors points.

30,000 HHonors points = 15,000 airmiles = £255 to buy.

So if a miles collector, it's probably better to pay for the hotel room. However if you're looking to use up some spare miles, it could work.

We see staying at the Gatwick Hilton as the start of our holiday. Twilight checkin and a relaxing evening meal, cannot be beaten! :)

I used to book either direct with the hotel or via VH, but the last couple of times we've got a brilliant inclusive deal (evening meal, room & breakie) via an Internet company. I asked the hotel to 'match' the deal but they declined!! Using a 3rd party I was told meant I didn't qualify for Hilton points but I'd settle for the good deal over points :D

If there's a special offer I book direct but in the past have also used Tesco vouchers. You get three times the value on the rack rate - usually works out around £50 of vouchers for a standard room.

In April I got The Hilton to price match an internet site plus $50 but it took nearly two weeks of emails and evidence of a screenshot I saved to get it agreed.
