They are basically the same hotel. The Wynn is the main part and the Encore is the All suite add-on tower that has become so popular with vegas hotels.

The Encore does have a different feel to it that does suit the younger crowd but by no means overun.

The rooms at the Encore are all suites, newer and in most cases larger.

Looking at rates the Encore should be slightly cheaper than the Wynn but it does depend on dates.

In short I would always go for the Encore. Like the Wynn only the cooler :)

I've stayed at both - Encore 3 times. As itisme says, Encore is more "subtle" with it, and less touristy (Exactly what Steve was trying to avoid with the Wynn!)

Bigger rooms, better finishing - but sliiiiightly further walk (remember, you're WAY up the strip at either property).

That all said, if I wasn't comp'd I wouldn't stay at either - there are MUCH better deals to be had on the strip.

In fact on reflection the money you would spend on the Wynn or Encore you can get a really good room at the Cosmo overlooking the Bellagio fountains with your own balacony ---- much better and better location :D

Agreed , and unless you want to spend all your time in the FS mall or in either hotel the entire time it's a good schlep to most of the action (which can be a complete and utter pain....).

We've just come back from a bit of a road trip round SoCal and Las Vegas and stayed at Encore for 4 nights.

The rooms themselves are pretty hard to fault, but we found that the whole place absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke :$

I appreciate from having been there before that smoking is allowed in the casinos but FWIW I thought the "atmosphere" at other places like the Venetian was a lot more pleasant because the casino was separate from the other main public areas of the hotel.

The other problem as has been mentioned earlier is that you are a long way up the Strip from most of the action especially if you stay in Encore as it's a good 10min walk through the hotel before you get out into the heat.

We loved the room but when we go back to Vegas we'll probably stay elsewhere.

I've previously had a Salon Suite at the Wynn and while nice I won't be rushing back. If you are strip-side you are able to hear the club below (even on floor 35) which makes it difficult to sleep.

The Wynn is about as far north as I'd want to go. It is OK for fashion show mall and a has a few high-end shops within and is not far from the Venetian/Palazzo shoppes. For me Encore is a hotel too far north.

We're going back for LDW have booked a wraparound at the Cosmo. I recommend looking into the Cosmo, if you book via the Marriott site you should investigate their "Look No Further" guarantee as you'll potentially get another 25% off if you can find it cheaper elsewhere. We've got ours for 5 days for #1500 after submitting a claim form.

We always stay at the Encore and use the Wynn Pool. The Encore has less non guest traffic so seems quieter to me, but the pool is a scene on a weekend. I like the Encore's bigger room with the sitting area.

I would highly recommend the Bellagio, the best hotel on the strip IMO. Both Wynn and Encore are very good, but you will find them a bit out of the way.

As a regular at both hotels I would like to add a few comments.
Yes they are both a bit far north on the strip.
The Encore is designed to be more upmarket and somewhat quieter, the casino is smaller but much less crowded, it does have its own restaurants, but all high priced, so for a bigger choice of dining you would use the Wynn facilities as well.
Suites are newer and bigger. but most at the Wynn have been refurbished anyway.
The normal price policy is that rooms at the Encore are $50 to $80 dearer than Wynn, and suites up to $200 dollars more expensive.

I even find the Bellagio a bit far back, can take a good five minutes walk to get to the strip, which is why I enjoy the basic of the Imperial Palace :o)

Well. That and the last check of times, it was 175 pounds for a WEEK. Mid strip, burger bar and hash house a gogos. As long as you don't go for the basic room...

Imperial Palace is under construction at the moment, so I would avoid if you like to sleep in past 7am on a weekday when they start the large machinery and noise.

I was staying in the Flamingo a couple weeks ago and I had room on the opposite side of the hotel from Imperial Palace and was not bothered by noise but people on the other side of the hotel said it was terrible.

Or even profitable, in some cases.... ;-)

Well, yes, but isn't the losing of a large quantity of cash needed for the former, and I've never had the luck for the latter...

Also check out Palazzo next to venetian, suites are big and views from strip are very good. They do a prestige package, well worth it. It is more chilled than Venetian. I have stayed at half dozen hotels on the strip and palazzo wins for me, it beats Bellagio which IMO needs updating. The city center ( aria area hotels ) are the newest and hip and happening places, but have heard mixed reviews. Most hotels are good in Vegas, I agree staying central helps, it does get hot.

Having been working in Vegas a bit for the past year, and got a trip coming up in a week or so, and then will be there for 2 months in the autumn. So work have been bouncing us around various hotels, they're looking for a good deal, and we're looking for somewhere decent to stay, and we've settled on the Trump. No casino and set back from the strip, which when you're working there is a God send. All the rooms have kitchen area's and sofa's etc. I know our needs are different to what most people are in Vegas for, but thought I'd chuck it out there as an alternative.

Really?? Stayed there myself last year and gotta say compared to a lot of the hotels on the strip it is tired and in dire need of a renovation.. Not to mention the staff have no sense of humour, I mean come on.. where else are we supposed to get a burger at 2am other than the front desk.. lol.

Back to the OP the Encore is newer and surprisingly cheaper than the wynn - this may have something to do with the rooms at the wynn recently being renovated. My vote goes to the encore, the rooms are bigger and opting for a higher strip view room gives you an AMAZING view down the strip..

Either is a winner in my book - don't worry too much about the distance down the strip there are monorails that cover the whole length of it so getting back and forth is not that much of a chore. Regardless of which one you chose, have an awesome trip y)

Joeyc - yes, it has been two years since I stayed there and I think it's the best. I stayed in the Palazzo last year, very nice, but the Bellagio every time for me. I've always found the staff to be very accommodating, rooms to be good with fantastic views of the fountains, brilliant casino, some of the best restaurants, ie Le Cirque and generally the best atmosphere. Not the mention the botanical gardens! Some of the newer hotels may be this and that, but for elegance and charm, this is the place.

As previously said though, the majority of the Hotels in Vegas are of a good quality. So whichever one you choose, you'll do well not to enjoy the place!
