Just use the hex connection (I think its the hex and not the underground) from the train station between 1 and 3. Takes less than 5 mins or so once you've got on one. Train deposits you at the bottom of T5 - get into the lift and go up to departures.

Shouldn't take you very long at all.

Heathrow Express (HEX) is the only way you can transfer to T5 other than flight transfers which you can't use once you've exited airside.

Follow the blue Heathrow Express signs in the middle of T3 Arrivals down the ramp to the station - Heathrow Central. Then as Mandy says, on the free train for 5 mins & up the big glass elevators straight into T5 Departures. 15 mins top start to finish

If you have a CDC with your flight you could always use that ... but still HEX is best!

Heathrow Express is always the best option when transferring to T5. Even if you have no reason to go airside I always would and then use the HX as T5 transfer security has at most times horrendous queues. Once you get to T5 always use South Security which is normally quieter than North especially since the re-fit which has seen another 5 security lanes added.

Another vote for HEX, really easy. From arrivals in T3 head down to the T3 station and get the HEX, takes around 5 minutes and regular trains.

As said above, once in T5 you just get the lift right to the top, very easy and free!
