Was driving on M23 at about this time on Friday. Saw a VS 747 landing and thought it was a strange time for a VS arrival.
I was out with the Airfield Ops team when this happened at LGW. It was classed as a full scale emergency and it was all hands to the pumps for the Emergency Services. The plane came in heavy and fast but was given a quick once over at the end of the runway and then taken back to a stand to disembark the passengers.
