Just a quick question. We are traveling to lax in March and have booked a meal for our 18 month old , so we are just wondering what to expect? Also if we were to bring some food for him do they have the facilities to heat it. Also at 18 months is he too young for the kids pack they normally give out at boarding? Any tips and advice , this is our first time in PE normally we are down the back again will we find it easier in PE ? Thanks in advance guys

Wouldn't bother concerning yourself with the kids pack, anyway it will just give you more stuff to carry, there's nothing in it suitable for that age. Plus I will be amazed if you are even offered on on any flight other than MCO, we've never had it offered on any other flight in over 7 years.

Crew have always been very good at providing help and assistance, and believe the heating of stuff is possible.

However, you need to go prepared for there to be somewhere near you a certain type of traveller in PE, you know the type, "self important, peering over the top of their Daily Mail, occasional semi-loud tutting and attention grabbing show of discomfort". Have broad shoulders/ ignore. :o)

Sounds like you have flown before with the ankle bitter so you will be well versed in the drill of little and often sips of liquids at take-off and landing to help relieve ear pressure. At that age, we found stuff which they can play with to keep their mind occupied worked well, i.e. stuff they need to physically play with rather than just visual.

That extra bit of space does make the whole thing easier and subject to the crew on the day, you should get more support.

Yes you will be able to take food on board but remember the liquids rule for security. Have a look on the Heathrow Airport website for details - there are some exemptions for baby food.

Crew won't be able to heat anything up for you though (other than milk in hot water).

Just to address one of your questions, yes you will find it easier in PE. The crew will, I think, heat bottles for you, and they may, if they are kind, help you in other ways. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the replies much appreciated. Does anyone know if you can charge an iPad in the new PE seats?

Officially the in seat power is not for charging and just puts put out enough power to run the device.

But experience apparently differs.

But if cabin crew see it still connected and not being used they will ask ou to disconnect it from the system
