Hi All

In 10 days time we get to do our 90 day seat selection for our honeymoon flight to cancun :) We booked the flight through ebookers and I spoke to them about seats back then and they offered 6a and 6k. On my booking it says the seats are not guaranteed which is fair enough. I can log in and see my flight details through the virgin-atlantic but I am waiting until t-90 to see if i get my seats.

My question is if the request has gone through from ebookers into virgin will this show up when I log in to do the seat selection. Will it try and auto assign me to those seats or is it a lottery and will I have to get on there quick to get them?

Anyone any experience of this?

Thanks in advance!

As you say, seat request are just that..requests.

E Bookers will have made the request, but if you have your VS booking ref, there is nothing stop you checking at T -90 days to check the seats are requested, or even changing them if there any alternatives available.

Certainly be quick, maybe check a few hours before T-90 days and keep trying.

Hope this helps

If they are assigned when you get to T-90, I'd say result y) . 6A and K are top seats IMO.

So, if the OP is to be believed (and I have absolutely no reason to doubt this :) ) e-bookers were able to request seats prior to the 90 day point. In that case, why can't I - or are e-bookers just shooting a line?

I was offered the same 'service' from Expedia for BA flights |(with the usual caveats - only requests / not guaranteed / operational reasons etc) so selected based on the seat map presented.

When it came to OLCI 'my' seats were occupied by someone else and I was allocated totally different ones.

Should have realised as when checking the seat maps on expert flyer 'my' seats were indicated as being available!

I took e-bookers with a pinch of salt, especially after reading through this and other forums. It would be nice if the request makes it through to virgin but if not I will see whats available at t-90. Either way upper class for the honeymoon is the main thing we are looking forward to :)

I guess i was just wondering if anyone else had any experience or success in getting a seat request allocated to them and it being there when they did seat selection at 90 days.

I have tried this in the past with a different agent and failed! I think Cooperman hit the nail on the head. If you have the VS booking reference you will probably be OK but in all probability you only have the agent's reference. That will not allow you to make the seat selection at 90 days. If it doesn't work you could try chasing the agent for the VS reference number and then have a go! Best of luck.

I have got the VS reference, when i booked the tickets it gave me a booking ref for ebookers and also the VS booking ref which i can check my booking on the virgin atlantic website. Been counting down for a while now and roll on t-90 so i can see if the seat selection works!

Pretty sure ebookers can note the request in the booking as the GDS functionality will still be available to them. It's just that VS won't do anything about it till T-90.

But though it will still be just a request, a savvy agent will be ready at T-90 to allocate the seats.

Bear in mind that you T-90 request is just that, a request, and is itself not guaranteed. To maximise the chances of sitting in the seats you want monitor MMB and do OLCI at T-24.

Seat map has opened up, didn't check till 90-4. All UC seats available so I have got the seats I wanted. 6A and 6K. The future Mrs is pretty happy about that. Just need to bag them on the way back and make sure through OLCI now. Thanks all!!
