cheap orlando fares

so my son suddenly decides he wants some last minute sun. depsite the 'super 4 day sale' no fares from anyone under £500 ...until , Delta LHR-ATL-TPA for £393 !!!!!! the fare portion is about 40 quid :0

the funny thing is if he got off at ATL it went to £512, so the fare gets cheaper the further you go

so for anyone fancying a cheapy to the sun...Delta is worth a look

oh BTW any benefits (miles etc) that he could claim for his FC account ????

He can't get any miles into his FC account t from a DL flight at the moment. May be differe t when the joint venture gets approval though

I think the Virgin and BA PE/WT fares to Orlando are extortionate particularly in School Holidays. If there was ever a route that needs competition this is it.

That's business I'm afraid. It's exactly the same on all airlines as well as trains and hotels. At times of peak demand, prices go up because people are prepared to pay them.

There is competition though - Thomson will be flying its Dreamliners on its Florida routes and other charter flights fly into Sanford.

As for Delta EC - poor comparison with UK airlines' PE products in my book, but then EC isn't meant to be a separate class of travel like PE, just a bolt-on to economy akin to VS' extra legroom seats which cost more but come with no other benefits.

Key benefits are: 3-4 inches extra legroom (vs 7 in VS PE or BA WT+), free booze (free even in economy on VS & BA) and priority boarding (same with VS and I think BA).

So in summary - it's not up there with PE - but then it's not meant to be, and it's a lot cheaper. More on a par with VS' extra legroom, with the added benefits of priority boarding and extra recline.
