Ok, so not watched PE for ages, but was thinking PE to Vegas at Christmas. 1013 at SALE prices for VS and 895 (gatwick) for BA around that time, but VS doesn't do sale weirdly for the gap before christmas, but does 25th onwards. Thing is that over new year is more of a high season that over christmas, perhaps its just the timing of the christmas weekend this year or something.

Or VS is filling the seats and doesn't care. BA getting seriously considered, though...

Ah just plugged in the relevant days I wanted to have into BA and came out pretty much same as VS "non sale" fares, I suppose they might match on a more granular level...

And remembered the pre to post christmas week will always be a high season because while Vegas might not be the holiday destinaton, a bunch of people will be flying home for christmas around that area...

Odd -- VS is matching BA but not advertising it is ---- second time now in a few months that VS has done this, l0 days ago needed 3 UC flights to Shanghai for July, couldn't get for less than £4500 each, now they are £2200 each --- feel mugged!

What's the cancellation policy? Cancel and rebook the cheaper fare?

Surprised by the 4,500 number.

I fly the PVG route quite a bit (and have others flying the route to/from me every 2 weeks) and it's always a standard £2,200-£2,500 ticket in Upper, without fail. (Unless booked within a week, etc, of course)

Booked on the 18th June for out on 11th July --- I like to think I am savvy myself but had to wait for clients to confirm dates, worst part is, I am actually on holiday now in Italy, clients gave me preferred provisional dates that meant I had to cut my holiday short by 3 days leaving family behind, looked on Expedia and found a flight with VS originating in Pisa for £1900 (Upper)-- AMS trick, clients confirmed dates next day, checked Expedia again, it had jumped to more than £4500!

Now have to lose my original return from Pisa and book an earlier flight -- ouch again!

Unless it's a flexible fare, it's a case of taking the hit. Even if flexible there is still an admin fee but at least you get the fare back plus taxes etc.

Preiffer, prepare to be surprised again.

I am also a regular flier on this route [approx every six weeks]I have noticed in the last six months, that hovering over the "ideas and low fares button" no longer gives highlights any Asia fares, clicking in this button however still shows Asia offerings, and prices have risen steadily.
I have just tried to book two more flights for 3 passengers each trip, 1st flight out August 6th returning 13th, this is coming in at £4718 each, luckily we can be flexible on this so departing on the 7th reduces to £3185, second flight out Monday 9th September, returning 16th, this is coming in at £4026, can't be flexible on this though.
In fact a quick search and I cant find any flights in Upper less than £3100 ---- I am struggling to find your £2200 - £2500 without fail ---- please enlighten me?

Just looked at your Sep dates on BA and it's a similar price for Club World - £4155. In fact on the outbound leg First is almost £500 cheaper than CW!

Which suggests there's a lot of demand to fly to PVG on the 9th, and the cheapest buckets have sold out.

I think I read that EK don't have horizontally flat beds in business on their 777 fleet, they're angled lie flat.

They were angled last time I went on the 777-300ER, about 12 months ago.

They are as near flat as makes no difference - just like the aircraft itself ;)
The A380 is available on that route. That suite is a world of difference from UC; so much more space, particularly the window seats which have more storage.

Two things at play : timing and route deal...

a) Timing - it really does depend on the season. I have three bookings in my account at the moment, they vary from £2,300 to £3,100 - for different months of the year. Also bear in mind that capacity has been reduced a bit recently on this route (A343 being brought into service, reduction in days flown, etc etc) which is slowly pushing the price up.
b) Route deal - we have a route deal with VS for discounted fares in Upper. That said, the lowest fare online is often still around £2,500. Just doing a dummy booking right now as a regular customer shows November fares at £2,700 inc. taxes ....?
