I know the report for a main steam audience, but I honestly wonder how some people think these schemes work. Sure there will be savings, but who really believes anything is free nowadays despite all the clever marketing companies use to try and tell us things are.
Yes.
1. Book early
2. Be flexible
3. Do your homework first.
Lousy advice about upgrading though. "Book cheapest then upgrade using miles". Are you sure about that Simon?

NH, Hobbit Land.
Why do the news outlets still use him?!
The guy seen packing his suitcase is a BA Gold card holder as he spent $70,000 last year on flights.
Unless he is paying over the odds for his tickets I would have thought he could get a higher status than that for $70k ?

I found that entire infomercial (yes I am currently stateside and have been brainwashed
) quite amusing...
A FF looking for reward seats to two popular holiday destinations, during the summer, the month before departure!! Personally I think he really should know better, guess he does now..
As for the SQ couple - ha ha ha ha, no sympathy whatsoever, they would have seen the figures they were paying as they were paying them.. Seriously, not once did they think, let's add them up
Anyone catch there was a model SQ a/c on the dresser in the background too? ii)
Using FF miles is not an easy task granted, it's why wonderful sites such as ours exist
Happy reward flying everyone 8D

I spent over 25 k with VS last year and I am only red. I bought the other UC flights for m family so it is quite easy to spend a serious amount of money and not reach a higher

i agree.
that is one of the reasons for v-flyer. I have utilised my FF miles for a booking later in the year and definitely saved money. Could maybe have saved more had I joined v-flyer before hand. I have a tiny pot of miles compared to most of you guys and gals but I still could benefit from them.
Life's too short to fly economy class
I'm a very (in)frequent flyer but thanks to all the lovely posters on here with all the great hints and tips we are taking our first UC flight in October, which I would of never of done without you guys.

I think many of us are in the same situation and our bank balances have suffered as a result!

He would still have a gold card even if he was GGL (which I hope he is, for 70k!). He'd have to be a Premier to have a different colour tag, and that is rather more exclusive...

Because they think he is an expert yet quite often he spouts off things that are simply not true including that EU261 will cover you for absolutely everything that goes wrong.
Another is that he has commented on the ex AMS/FRA/CDG trick to avoid APD but doesn't explain that if your late from your separately ticketed connecting flight to get there then the airline has no obligation to rebook you.
Huzzah for International Jet-setting !
Also his comments on LHR during Airport Live... Saying it wasn't anywhere near the biggest or busiest in Europe (or something similar)...

FRA and CDG are technically busier than LHR.

By flight numbers LHR is third in Europe. Hardly "nowhere near" the busiest by movements
Passenger numbers are used most often. Then LHR wins.

I'm not saying nowhere near. PAX numbers obviously are huge, but the flight movements are more important, i.e CDG and FRA are ahead of LHR in that regard and have room for more, they'll not be long in passing LHR for PAX volume too I would guess. Heathrow needed a 3rd runway 15 years ago, I hope it gets one soon...as I'm sure so do VS.
