Have i missed this?

Guested a fellow V-Flyer into the lounge on the 11th ---- Guests are now restricted to same flight and must depart when you depart, know the departure rule was meant to apply [but hard to police] but didn't know about the same flight, spoke to two greeters and both stated rule had been in place about 3 weeks.
When guest arrived and called me I requested to speak to supervisor and eventually guest was allowed to enter.
Can anybody clarify if this is set in stone?

Not heard of this but it does make sense. If you are travelling together then it is reasonable to bring a guest in with you. If you are not traveling together then that other person is not really a guest - more someone you know that happens to be flying on VS that day. I feel there is a difference.

I agree. I think this is fair on VS part.

One of the benefits of V-Flyer is guesting someone in to the CH.

However, I think fair/unfair is not really the point.

I totally understand VS can do whatever they like, and I am sure with Delta cardholders coming along perhaps something will have to change.

However, there has been an arrangement in place for years and it appears to have changed without any announcement?

Well it could be a new staff member's interpretation of the rule on one occasion, otherwise a shame since this has been one of the nice perks of Au for a long time.

I always thought this was a generous policy. The only time I have used it my guest was on the same flight as me though.


If BA did this then flyer talk would go into meltdown - physical and mental !!

Just checked and nothing has changed as such, but as mentioned before - it's always been the case that the 'Guest' is supposed to be travelling on the same flight as you.. Maybe this is a case of a re-enforcement of the correct policy?

A call to the FC T&Cs reveals nothing covering this - there is this on the FC Au benefits page:

I am genuinely surprised by that. I've guested someone who wasn't on my flight, and a quick look at this forum would suggest that it has been permitted for a long time. Given how careful the Clubhouse receptionists are, I'd be surprised if the rules hadn't been strictly enforced for so long.

Does this new policy (if it is new) apply to all guests (i.e. FC AU guests as well as guests of UC passengers) or just FC AU guests?

It has always been a case of 1 guest was allowed provided they were travelling on VS metal that day, regardless of class of travel. It has also been the policy (with various levels of enforcement) that once the guesting passenger left the Clubhouse, the guest must also leave too. It's a guest, not a free pass.

Upper Class passengers can guest someone in to the Clubhouse travelling on ANY VS flight that day.

Flying Club Gold holders can guest someone in to the Clubhouse if they are travelling on the same flight as them, in any cabin.

I've checked the lounge access policy internally and it hasn't been recently updated - so this must have always been the case, but it's now being enforced.. Possibly due to certain Delta members now gaining access when flying VS? (I'm just speculating)

I am disappointed to learn this. Trimming frequent flier perks seems a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Is it really that big of a perk though, guesting someone who isn't on the same flight? Personally, I always thought it was a bit odd. If they're on the same flight then the issue of them having to leave when you do becomes redundant.
