Love the new look. But found it slow on first load on a mobile device (even over wi-fi) and the menus don't drop down on a touch device. Anyone tried it on an iPad? I bet the menus don't drop down there.

Given that having a lot of travelers by definition are mobile, i'm surprised it doesn't totally suit mobile devices and for phone doesn't automatically direct to a mobile site.- unless its just not spotted my phone is a phone of course....

Can I suggest you have a section on 'getting ready for security'?

I know you list what you can't carry on board but this is not the same as getting ready for security. So guidance on laptops/kindles etc. Shoes on or off etc etc.

The UK Food rerstrictions is also helpful so how about including similar for what you can and can't take into other countries. THe US and Australia are especially restricted.

Also you need to get into the habit of dating the pages too.

I would imagine that security issues at the airport would be difficult to do as every airport is different! in the past month alone I have been to 5 different airports and 2 of them I did not need to remove my belt and at 1 of them they told me to just leave my laptop in the bag!

What I don't understand is why they have started advertising Virgin Holidays offers on the "Ideas & low fares" page. Apart from the obvious monetary reasons.

The Barbados link takes you to the Boston VH page, and for all the destinations, the price on VS website doesn’t match the VH website, some more, some less... Just seems like something extra for them to update, and we all know how great VS are at updating misinformation on their website...

There is a reason security information is not published, if security protocols are fixed and known it gives terrorists information to develop ways around each airports systems. Next time you go to an airport you didn't have to remove your belt, you may do.

I wasn't suggesting that detailed protocols be listed but some advice for non frequent travellers such as taking coats off and emptying pockets of coins, wallets, keys, phones etc and having your bag of liquids ready etc

Grr, find the booking engine, enter dates, see results, click "back" and it takes you to the home page, not the booking engine ... this should be so simple. At the moment I feel like it: nice design, dog's dinner of navigation.

yes indeed !

And very strange that it doesn't recognise 'MCO' in the destination fields ?| ?|

Where has the option gone to select different cabins on outbound/return legs? (Is this a sign of things to come, or just an "oversight").

"More Options" button ;)

So another example of the new website being less user friendly, forcing more clicks for simple things.

So I've had a few looks at it and here are my thoughts.

I really like the new style, very smart and the changing backgrounds keeps the site fresh.
I like the obvious menus on the right for OLCI, MMB and Flight Status.

I dislike the new booking front end. I preferred the old drop down menu of destinations, as this prevents people from having to guess where VS fly to.
I also dislike the fact that they've introduced at least 2 extra clicks to search for a mileage redemption.

Is it just me or does the current 4 day sale red background look a bit naff on the new home page?

The red colour doesn't blend very well with the rest of the site colours plus the background picture is badly pixelated (well at least on my 21" iMac screen anyway)

It's fine on my macBook screen the red background looks OK given that it is darkening from the bottom of the screen up

StillRedHot wrote:The next update was due over the next few days funnily enough, but this has been pushed back a few weeks by the website developers due to technical issues.

Again, lack of investment due to making no money is the problem here.

The lack of investment and the generally poor website actually puts people off booking VS so that is costing VS money.

Many shops spend a lot of money on their window displays which encourage people to enter (and spend). Unfortunately for VS once you get past the nice front window the rest of the store is disfunctional
