On Saturday 28th September, prior to ensconcing myself in a PE seat on what will inevitably be G-VINE, I'm going to get my very first experience of a VA Clubhouse. And quite excited about the prospect I am too! :)

I've read quite a bit about what's on offer and what to do at LHR but what about at LGW? What's it like in there? Are there runway views that will let me satisfy my inner geek? Will three hours in there be too long? Which call should I use as my cue to go and catch my flight? And is 7am too early to drink a Red Head or two ): - I'm desperate to try one of these legendry beverages!

I'd be very grateful for any hints, tips and opinions.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Obviously your time in the Gatwick Clubhouse will be determined by your host, but to answer your questions:

1. The Clubhouse has an expansive view of the apron where your see your trusty VS machine line up to take you to your destination.

2. As all flights depart in the morning, the Clubhose offers a range of breakfast items - as well as the occasional glass of fizz and of course Virgin Redheads ):

3. There is a spa, but only limited number of beauticans on hands - so Mrs B and I book early to prevent disappointment

As with all Clubhouses, it is a haven of preace and relaxation and 3 hours will pass in no time - ENJOY!!!

I would recommend..

Start with a redhead, book some treatments, another ummm maybe Redhead. Maybe a bite to eat, washed down with ... oooh maybe another Redhead ? ;)
And then possibly a lie down depending on your alcohol tolerance ? lol
Enjoy, it's the best place to be !

Can someone please give me some more information on the LGW Clubhouse.
I am travelling out PE to BGI next month and would like to know how I go about booking the Clubhouse, how much it costs and what you actually get? I have looked on the Virgin website but cannot see any prices. Thanks.

Thanks all for the advice! Looks like my plan of attack is as follows:

Get to the Clubhouse for 7am
Red Head.
Book shave.
Red Head.
Order breakfast.
Red Head.
Shave.
Red Head.
Eat breakfast (washed down with maybe a Red Head).
Go and look at the pretty planes and fail all atempts at focusing.
Red Head.
Ignore first call.
Red Head.
Second call.
Read Head 'for the road'.

I love it when a plan comes together!! ;)

We are travelling next year - our first time UC. How early prior to your flight can you access the clubhouse? Want to make the most of the experience.

My understanding is that it's three hours. However, my booking is a Virgin Holidays 'add on' - might be different (longer) if you're in UC.

Lel, if you've booked directly with Virgin Atlantic, I don't beleive that the Clubhouse is an option with a PE ticket. However, if your booking was made via Virgin Holidays, you can get access as a non-UC passenger for £50 a head (£60 for LHR). You will need to book this through Virgin Holidays.

In return for your hard earned cash, you get a very funky looking lounge, great views of the planes, a treatment/haircut/shave (your choice from a menu) and all food and drink is included too. Take a look at this: http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/travel-information/airport-guides/london-gatwick/clubhouse.html
