Hi All

We are flying PE in a 747 to Las Vegas next month. I understand that there is power available for laptops/ipads, etc in PE. Empower? How does that work for iPads? Do I need to buy an adapter to take on board?

Thanks

Colin

On the LGW/MAN 744's the sockets are standard UK/US universal sockets so no special adapters are required as standard power bricks with a UK plug will work.

You cannot use on-board power to charge your devices though. They should only be plugged in whilst you are using them.

I have an old Toshiba PC; I've tried to use the power on two flights LHR-SFO but the transformer on my cord got very hot and started to buzz, so I gave up. Was I just unlucky or is power on a plane always a challenge?

My laptop wouldn't drink the juice on the very same flight.

I have an adapter for my Macbook Pro, which I got from Apple directly and I've never had a problem in both PE and UC.

However, one I remember that when I didn't have an old iPhone/iPad charger, they had one spare for the old 30-pin style connector. Is this still the case or do they not lend it out anymore?

AHA! Thank you for the input, so glad I was right to disconnect, that laptop is my portable brain!

No, you cannot use either the power or the USB sockets to charge your device. They should only be plugged in whilst you are using them.
