Maybe I'm unlucky ColOrd, or maybe it just automatically detected and hated the EX-EU prices from DUB I'd got for the bookings from our chats on the other thread :-)

I also wasn't logged out, as had 3 separate bookings to do, one of which was an ex-EU ):

Kept me logged in for my 3 sets of flights. I have an ex-DUB PNR, a directly booked VS PNR and a now ticketed (hence showing automatically) VHols VS flight PNR.

For bookings where pax have already selected seats via the old T-60day system, do remember to go in have have a look, as more seats are showing as available now than there where previously.

Worked surprisingly well from Delhi for my next trip here in Feb. And a confirmation email. Still had a couple of drops to "you are one step closer to being there" in the new site format but am on a very slow connection here- it was robust enough for that though.

I woke up early today and got into the seatmap just after 6am and requested the seats we want for our Orlando trip in May. System was quite fast at 6am - before the stampede that obviously happened a couple of hours later.

Virgin's IT department should have realised that the system was going to get hammered at 8am and put more bandwidth / server capacity in place for at least the first few days. (Once all the Dibb'ers have put their seat requests in, scale the bandwidth / capacity down to more normal levels over the coming days).

Even my ex-employer (a large global IT company) would not have missed this trick. Second thoughts, they probably would have.

With VS hoping to show a return to profit for all 4 quarters and with Q3 traditionally being a quiet time there's a lot of £25s going into their coffers this month

I am going to hazard a guess probably not a lot? I don't think I have seen anyone on here who has actually been booking a seat ressie that costs them money?

Seats to jamacia and orlando in UC booked very easily at around noon today. Confirmation email for both received.
I ll wait with baited breathe to see if we actually get the ones we have chosen though!

I'd completely forgotten about this but have just logged in and bagged 12A&K for both sectors of my SFO trip next June. The UC cabin was wide open apart from the 20G, the bassinet seat, being greyed out. Nice new system too, but was also a bit disconcerted at having to agree payments terms for free seat allocations!

No real need for that IMHO.

As far as I can see from this thread the system struggled a bit for a couple of hours from 8am as the V-Flyers, Dibbers etc who assumed that's when it would go live attempted en masse to reserve seats (in fact it seems it had already been live for some time - 8am was only ever an assumption on our part).

But it's been fine ever since (it actually appears to be a very good system) and it'll probably never experience that level of simultaneous demand again so there was little point in throwing money into providing extra capacity just for an hour or two when a little patience was all that was required.

Worked like a dream for me at 7:30 yesterday - just thought I would try it as I was convinced it would be 8am but no, straight in and bagged the "snuggle zone" (6A/K) on both legs (LGW-MCO and MBJ-LGW) next Feb. All other seats were still available when I looked.

Happy girl!

Interesting there are so many reports of wide open availability. When I went in to assign my outbound (VS45, 31st March 2015) yesterday at about 7.45am *only* 12A, 12K and 14K were available on the lower deck! I thought this may have been a glitch, but it's still the same this morning. Not that I'm complaining about getting 12A and K, I am just intrigued....

Well probably not on V-flyer as there's a higher percentage of Au and UC passengers but I'm personally an extra £250 out of pocket, and so are members of a Facebook Orlando forum I'm in.

And in the grand scheme of things it's probably not that extra revenue, I was just being mischievous.

For my flights LGW-LAS-LGW next April/May the two UC seats I've reserved are still the only ones reserved!

My guess is that in the overall scheme of things there are a small minority of folk (like me & others here!) who are in fact clued up on this whole seat booking thing.

I was able to choose seats for my girlfriend and I for our VS009 flight on Monday coming (24th Nov) a few weeks back. Since the new system came online I have been back in and the same seats, 80H and 80J both ways, are still booked for us :)
