Hi

Was taking a photo of a lovely sunset over the Turkish mountains yesterday on Diamond Girl when a sudden turbulent bump and I lost my phone never to be seen again (so far). There is a nasty gap beneath and slightly forward of the windows and the KLM engineers on arrival couldn't find it-in fact like the Old Dear in Fawlty Towers I got the impression they thought it was really in my bag- but no - it's in there somewhere. Captain said I wasn't the first to do this? Anyone else on here.

Don't remember that gap on the old DS. I really wonder if UCDS was properly thought through.

Sorry to hear about your phone.
A few years back I lost my late mother's eternity ring on a flight. I have no idea how it suddenly flew off my finger. Frantic searches but it wasn't found. My Mother was an old fashioned lady who loved to travel and part of me thinks it is very apt that her ring is still probably flying the Atlantic aboard "English Rose" .

What happens to lost property found much later on an aircraft?

I believe "English Rose" was pretty much stripped back to the metal a few months ago during maintenance, so there is a chance that the ring would have been found.

Just to end the story I have my phone back. Travelled back on VGEM (VS301, Wednesday) and the excellent flight manager got it searched at Heathrow and it was found and returned to me via the duty manager. Well done VS.

While I was in India my phone had a great 10 day holiday, New York twice, Atlanta and Dubai three times. Sitting turned on in flight safe mode all time under seat 8A - still 52% charged when I got it back!

You should have enrolled it in FC. Just think how many miles it would have accrued! :o)

If making no calls and not scanning for networks (phone / data / wirelss) it's got b*gger all to do really except light the screen and that probably hit a power save profile...

I swear mine loses battery life when turned off ! Truly the worst battery life of any phone I've ever had

Amazing. Not sure I would have expected to see that again!
Well done VS for great customer service and people who are prepared to go above and beyond.
Now, "English Rose", give back that ring. I know you like it, but it's not yours!!

Oh that's great to hear! And I'm also surprised by the battery life.

As it turned out I travelled with your phone on VGEM together on 14 Nov to DXB! Pleasure was all mine :D

Phew hiljil, glad that made you smile!
I wrote that after a few glasses of the non H2O kind and later was horrified that you might think I was trivialising a traumatic event. That certainly would never be the case.

I also dropped my iPhone somewhere within the hidden depths of the ucds, also on G-VGEM earlier this year!

It managed to fall down the side of the seat (I don't even understand how) and to a place where the crew advised me not to try getting it myself. I expected to wait until we arrived at Gatwick to see if anyone could help me retrieve the phone, (possibly engineers if availible?) but the crew were fantastic in helping me get it back with the help of an UC bread knife, three of them helped and I got the phone back within minutes which I though was fantastic especailly as it was an over night flight from the caribbean - those crew were a credit to VS y)

I think Diamond Girl must be cursed for swallowing phones :o)
