Quick question for the MCO regulars (Gold card holders or Upper Class)...

I vaguely remember reading on here some time ago that you could forego your Delta Sky Club invite & receive a certain amount in vouchers to be spent at an airside eating establishment of your choice.

Anyone know if this option still exists? If so, I'll take the vouchers and have a decent steak at Outback. May cost me a few dollars more, but will help to maximise sleep time on the inbound flight (am on the later VS74).

Thanks
James

Its not something I had heard of but a good idea.
There are some comfortable seating areas nearby.
I flew PE last year and wasn't in the Delta lounge and have to say it was no great loss. The food in the lounge is rubbish.
I'm going Upper again next month. I will use the lounge but will do a walkabout. Now that you have sown the seed I'll probably have to go to the Outback.

Morning James,

Returning from MCO in October last year was the lounge only. This was into Glasgow so don't know if that made any difference. May trip returned via JFK but strangely enough ended up in the same lounge via amex plat as we flew Delta up to JFK.

Have heard of this being offered in the past but don't know if it was a trial.

Enjoy the sunshine state. Will need to get some flights booked myself.

I can definitely recommend Outback. I only had a burger there as I had a steak the night before, but it was excellent in its own right and the steaks being served also looked good! Worked out very well in our case as we were delayed by 90mins.

Thanks for the replies - it sounds like I was halfway correct, in that vouchers are offered on occasions. (Maybe at peak times when VS know the Delta Sky Club will be rammed full?)

We'll have eaten at an Outback more than a few times when in Orlando in February & May - but there is always time for one last Victoria cut fillet steak and a beer / cocktail or two :) - will beat anything we're offered on the aircraft!

I'll try and get vouchers on my February return flight in 4 weeks time and report back - will probably be checking in at DTD if that makes any difference.

I agree, the Outback in MCO isn't the best in the world but it is much better than sitting in the souless gate area at MCO.The menu isn't the most extensive but it isn't too bad.
This, combined with a cocktail/beer ( or 3) isn't a totally naff way of waiting for your flight. :)
