I have joined the flying club but wonder how I connect that membership to my Hilton HHonors one please?
I have a stay booked at a Hilton hotel in September and wonder whether I can earn air miles on it even though I have already made the booking (but not completed the stay).
Do I have to go through the Shops Away site for further Hilton stays to earn air miles?
I presume I can't claim miles retrospectively for past stays that show on my Hilton HHonors account?
Thanks for your help. :)

Well, your HHnonors account should have a setting which gives either hilton points only, or hilton plus a small amount of airmiles (avios or vs or others). Set that for your future stays, for September. I don't think it works retrospectively though...

But if you've booked it already, you've missed the chance to use shopsaway. They apply at the booking time.

Hilton have reduced the double dip airline miles (last year I think now). You used to get 1000 FC miles per stay, but it's less than that now.

If you have a flexible reservation with Hilton, there's nothing stopping you cancelling that and then re-booking but going via Shops Away to get the extra VS miles.

I've done this with all my IHG flexible hotel bookings (Intercontinental / Holiday Inn etc), as I wasn't aware IHG where on Shops Away until last week....doh!!!

I also saved a few quid as well as some of the rates had dropped slightly too since I'd first booked :)

Sign into HHonors https://secure3.hilton.com/en/hh/custom ... /index.htm

Update your preferences

Download their app, it's very good for keeping your stays a few clicks away.

If you are booking a room for your teens, you should email them as they do the second room rate at 50% and it isn't always clear on the website.

Great marshy, I'll do that now. Thanks for your help. If I update my preferences now, do you think they'll award air miles for the booking I have already made for September as well as the July one? Thanks

Your miles/points are added after your stay, so I can't see why not.

Agreed. In my experience Hilton usually put some clause in about offers and the like being applicable only to "future bookings" but by that they seem to mean "future stays".

But as James says, don't expect to be showered with airmiles.

Average between 400-600 VS mikes per night which varies based on room rate!

Not a great deal but when you consider it's a bonus above your HHonors not to be sniffed at, I have collected about 5k this last 12 months including 1k bonus miles!

I'll be happy with a few hundred extra miles for the Hilton stays I've got coming up. It all adds up. :D

I'm boosting mine by booking again for the same nights through Shopsaway, and then cancelling my originals. :)
