Calling on all experienced flyers... Sales: is there a yearly pattern as to when Virgin has a 'can not miss' sale?

Is this Pot luck or is there a logical system in place. Looking to book next adventure with VS but want to catch the best ££

Not really, yes there's usually one post Christmas / New Year, and often one late Summer and sometimes at other times of the year, but frankly the recent sales have been crap.

wot slinky said. Just as I thought I'd got quite good at predicting when sales were going to happen, the actual sales themselves turn out to be total rubbish. To the point where the specific flights I wanted got cheaper immediately AFTER the sale finished!

No prospect of any personal travel with them this year. Going to be a big challenge to retain gold in 2016, and that's if I decide to try.

I dunno about the sales being useless. We got 2 LGW-MCO's in Oct return for ~820 quid total (ie £410/ticket) in the Jan sale, which I found a bargain, current prices same flights same days are in region of £6-700 each, and higher on other days. With gold giving free seat booking, lounge access, and even extra leg rooms seats, it's a relatively cheap 2nd holiday for us.

That said, my Gold will expire in Nov due to mostly the lack of the Mumbai route, which was 50% of my TP's on an average year. Of course that may change if work sends me on the possible 6-7 US trips over summer, but I somewhat doubt it! Mumbai is a route sadly I've ended up on BA for, as connecting via AMS to DL, although an option just doesn't jump out as convenient (and I won't fly JET for numerous reasonas). Connecting in India in Delhi, I may try if the costs are acceptable though.

Not seen anything near the Ex-Dublin current price of 1200 quid for business/upper to LAS, and a sale is not on at the moment...
