I'm with you, although sadly the 747s will be gone in the not to distant future n( .

I do hope VS sticks with it this time, this fiddling around with SF is not good for planning, and whenever I've taken the second flight in the past it's always been full.

Wasn't the second SF announced as part of the changes announced a while back...the one with the cancellation of Mumbai, Cape Town .etc?

It was only announced as a summer seasonal 2nd Flight and only 4 or 5 times a week.

It's a shame they're waiting until 25th October to introduce the 787-9 on the route as it's 5 weeks after I fly on VS41.

I know that the 900/901 and 354/355 rotations were given up to support further USA services - 2nd ATL and SFO? Why were they given up so much before the new services start, what is happening to the slots at the moment. Is it simply cost cutting for the moment as routes were losing money?

Woohoo! I might finally try a 787 :-)

Excellent news on the second service. It makes it much easier to work (and do Ex EU ;-) trips with the later time schedules.

I've just booked the LHR-SFO-LHR (via DUB but that's another matter 8D ) for Dec 15 out and Jan 16 back and managed to get the VS42 789 flight back. Didn't realise that all SFO rotations are likely to be on the 789, will have to keep a look out for seat changes. So looks like no more A Zone 747 for me. :(

Although I'm slightly disappointed to not be on the 789 in September/October, it does look like it will be my only experience of UC on a 747 (selected 12A/K for return journey) and I've also never flown on an A340, so that will possibly be my last chance on the flight out.

With the number of Dreamliners entering service at VS and other airlines, I'm sure I'll get to experience one soon (also looking forward to the A350).
