We are flying UC from LHR to BOS on Boxing Day this year. Due to there being no trains that day, we are having to get to LHR via National Express coach service. We have not used UC out of LHR before. When we get to T3 and the Virgin check in area...how does one access the UC check in desk. Is there a designated lift to it?

Take the underground walkway from the Central bus station and Zone A at T3 is on your left as you come up the escalator or by using the lift. As you enter the doors the UC desks are clearly visible to the right. The lift after check in will take you to the private security channel.

Hope that helps. Have a great trip.

We were once directed to use the check in desk upstairs when those on the main concourse were busy..

Yep, that has happened to me on a couple of occasions and there was one where the UC line was busy but the lady who should have been manning it and directing single passengers with small amounts of luggage (i.e. me ) spent the time gazing into the middle distance.

I'm not sure the driver or other coach passengers would be too pleased if we asked to use the bus to do DCTI...come to that, I don't think it's quite the image that Virgin Atlantic would like to have of a National Express coach turning up at the Upper Class Wing...mind you who knows with their sense of tongue in cheek irony!
