I was reading Head for Points this morning. On there it was suggested that you could miles boost before taking your booked flights.

I have flights booked this year (both M to G upgrades) to Miami and Washington/NYC.

Can I take advantage of the miles boost 30% bonus offer by purchasing them even before I take the flight? I was not aware you could do that if you can.

Only thing to remember is the miles don't post until you've taken the 1st leg of each "boosted" flight.

(mines actually posted a day before but don't think they are meant to)

Yes I agree with the others, you can do it before . I did it only a few months ago and interestingly the Bonus 30% miles were added immediately at the payment stage but the Boosted miles were added 3 days after my first leg of flights.

I have another question if I may?

If my return flights gain me 5000 base miles each way (for example) I can miles boost the base miles (2 x 5000) to get 10,000 miles.

Or I can double the base miles for double the price to get 20,000 miles.

And at as there is a miles boost bonus currently available I will get an extra 30%.

My question is, do I still get the original 10,000 miles as well? i.e. 10,000 base miles + 20,000 double boost + 6,000 (30%) bonus miles = 36,000 miles?

Just want to check before I buy.

Yes you do. The 10,000 base points that you earn are are unaffected by the boost in any way.

As a slight variation to this, you can actually boost a reward flight that would normally gain 0 miles as a result of the booking class. In your example if you had double boosted this same trip booked as a reward flight you'd get 26,000 miles in total - The double boost (20,000) + 30% (6,000) + No base miles at all = 26,000.
