Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on seats.
I am booked in May LGW to BGI out in premium booked in 22k and return journey in upper class currently in 3K. Just not sure if this will be a little noisy !!

I am flying solo on both trips.
Any advice would be great !

3K is fine, i usually go for 1K if it's available, just avoid anything in D/G and stay away from the bar area

most of my flights are on the 333, noise in UC on this aircraft is much more likely to come from the bar end of the cabin, also i find the K aisle gets a bit less traffic than the A aisle, less chance of getting your feet bumped in the night as others navigate the rather narrow UC aisles

22K is midway in the PE cabin, standard window seat, though over the wing

personally I like 25D/G as on the central aisle seats it's unlikely i'll have to get up for others or disturb them when i get up, plus there's guilt free recline with the bulkhead behind

some report noise from EC to the rear, but when i've been in this cabin the only times i've been disturbed were due to crying infants in bassinets at the front of PE, and on one memorable fight screams drifting back from UC, hate to think how loud it was there!

seatguru shows the layout...

I'm doing the same flights as you - outbound to BGI in PE and return in UC. We've booked 25HK in PE so we can recline guilt free, and on the return have booked 3/4A. I am thinking about changing to 3/4K on the way back based on the comments above. What dates are you flying? We go out on 8th May and back 29th.

I'll make sure to leave a little bit of rum and Banks on the island for you then Marmite!

We've not done the flights this way round before, I've flown UC out and PE back twice now, but not in the reverse, so I am looking forward to it. I am not getting overly excited about the lounge at BGI on the way back as it doesn't sound impressive but it will be nice to have a last drink and roti.

I believe you can only guest people into lounges when you are Flying Club Gold (which I am not, only silver). I keep hoping someone who is Gold will choose to fly out to BGI on 8th May and guest us in, but looking at the itinerary calendar on here, no-one has yet!

Most disappointed as even our usual breakfast haunt at Gatwick, Frankie & Benny's, has now been closed, so not sure what we will do for breakfast. I did think about trying for CH access on the day, but if it is available it is something like £65 per person. I very much doubt it will be available as it sounds like VH has been offering paid entrance to some of its travellers now that Vroom is closed. Never mind, I can put up with a couple of hours in South Terminal!

Where are you staying in BGI? We stay on the south coast at Coral Mist. I love it there and it is excellent value for money. I've always been a south coast person since I first went out there in 1989. Funny how people tend to go for either south or west and stick with it. There are very few repeat holidaymakers who don't have a preference for West or south!

Just leave me rum ha ha and a chicken roti or 2 !
The lounge at Bgi really is a bit grim compared to others, last year I came back BA club world and I didn't even bother going in. I checked my bags in and went over to the bar and grabbed that final bit of sunshine !! I went through security at 16.15 !! With my flight an hour later this then left me time to buy some rum too !!
I have yet to visit the clubhouse at Gatwick, like you I will keep an eye in the itinery to see if anyone can help a damsel in distress ha ha !!
If not I mostly use the No 1 lounge for a cheeky glass of vino or 2 !
I flew over a coulple of years ago in PE and it really was an excellent flight, I managed to get seats 18a &c which gives you great views of the island when landing too.
This year I am staying with family in Bgi ( what a terrible place to live ) but normally I stay on the south coast at Coconut Court a fabulous family run hotel !
Roll on the sunshine 97 days and counting !

I couldn't get back row seats in A/C so went for H/K. This will be the first time I have not been in an A seat coming in to land in years, but I will survive!

I get the impression that CC is much like CM in terms of accommodation and friendliness of staff, but I've never tried it because I like the location of CM, plus we have friends staying there and Blue Orchids next door.

I will try very hard to leave you some Mount Gay and Banks, but I can't promise! I work hard and go out to enjoy my holidays! ;)

I think we will try out the lounge at BGI for a while as we've never done it before and I am sure a last Banks/MG/roti will be welcome. Shame we're not there at the same time, we've got a meet up arranged with some friends and other new TripAdvisor people

I sat in 4K for both legs (LGW - UVF), what was very noticeable on both flights were that the CC were much more attentive on the other side of the ac. On the G/K side on both legs glasses were cleared almost as soon as they were finished with no refills offered whilst on the A/D side the CC were wandering up and down with bottles offering top ups. I asked if I could have another glass, none came. Come breakfast service on our side tables were not laid with cloths or salt and pepper shakers, I asked if I could have a mug of tea, unfortunately they had no mugs left but was promised I would be well topped up, never saw her again until she cleared my table, asked for a cuppa, never even got a response.

It was my first time in UC and I thoroughly enjoyed experience, this year I've booked 4A

tbh i've seen it work both ways, if the CC for your side is busy elsewhere or simply not up to it then the service can be very different

overall i find VS suffers from inconsistency of service, some crews are great, others seem not to really care

any delay with the bubbly and my call light would be on non-stop!

Same on any airline - I had dreadful service on a BA flight on Monday, thanks to one of those old school CSMs who was clearly recruited back in the days when standards were dictated by operational convenience for the crew, not putting the customer first.

At VS, sadly morale is pretty low at the moment thanks to the changes coming in this April which'll see fewer CC on each flight and the rank of Senior Cabin Crew abolished with enforced demotion for those who choose to stay.
