Having gate crashed my mum and her partners outbound flight to St Vincent via BGI and all staying at the Bloc the night before (in separate VIP rooms) does anyone have any recommendations of nuce restaurants in Crawley as my mum is not keen on the idea of eating in Giraffe

It depends what your after.
My favourite pub and it is close to the North terminal( still a taxi ride) is the Black Horse in hookwood - you can book a table online
Amazing food, very popular.

If you like Thai try lemongrass in Crawley high street probably one of the best meals outside Thailand I've had

Turtle Bay
Is a Caribbean restaurant, it has a good atmosphere and some great cocktails, as a regular to the Caribbean the meals are not the same but it's a good evening out
This is also on the high street at the opposite end to Lemongrass next to morrisons.

Another pub type restaurant which is a bit further out from Crawley in the residential areas but worth a visit is the Hilside Inn, great food - not a wide variety to choose from but what they do is amazing, I have never had a bad meal here.

Do taxis, do not rely on the Gatwick taxi company as they are expensive (double a local firm) use either United 01293 429429 or Metro 01293 522222

Hope this helps.
