Heathrow Clubhouse refurbishment suggestions?

I hear the argument, Its commonplace, and I understand both sides of it.
I just find it annoying that the only smoking area in the entirety of LHR is in T4 (from memory).

I know that Virgin Atlantic are very keen to keep the Clubhouse as special as ever, but they also need to face up to capacity issues.

Between now and March, The Brasserie will be expanded, and a few new areas will be 'added', including a lovely, secluded cinema area. I'm sure almost everyone will be happy with the result.

The breakfast menu - some people (like me), like simple things - A bowl of Cornflakes!! At the moment, I eat in "The Bridge" or Rhubarb, and then go and chill in the CH prior to the flight.

I would have sworn that there was normal breakfast cereal available on a little trolley but next to the main bar when I was in there end of September! Almost certain!

There's breakfast cereal, yogurts etc on one side of the deli I believe.

Must be new - I have never seen it.

It's been there every time I've been there, but it's rather tucked away off to the right hand side and can be easily overlooked if one is focused on the cheese, ham & salmon right in your face!

Can I make a rather outlandish suggestion and just ask a member of staff at the deli if they have any cornflakes, rice crispies or kale puffs or whatever takes your fancy?

The vesper martini isn't on the official menu but they have managed to produce one if asked!

There's cereals and fruit along from the cheeses, meats etc

Dont suppose there has been any news regarding the LGW clubhouse?

I have, and indeed once, they have pulled it out the bag - I really appreciated her doing it, but the effort she went to, in my eyes, was just way too much - for cornflakes......... Its not an expensive stock overhead ;)

On the subject of smoking areas, Manchester airport have managed it (in T1 & T2 anyway) but adding a 'caged' outdoor area which is reached from within the terminals once you are airside, so I don't see any reason why other airports cannot so the same thing?

Another hand raised here for missing the jacuzzi. Used it the last two times I got to fly VS (they've now stopped coming to Japan) and loved using it in conjunction with the heavenly shower rooms. (If the steam showers went, that would be an utter crying shame!) I was usually the only one in that whole area though, which, while feeling incredibly private and nice, did also clearly mean it was under-used.

The upper deck has never been that well used, in my opinion, and the TV area between the children's playroom and the pool tables always seems like it could be better laid out.

The library is a lovely area of solace when the main lounge is busy.

I don't want them to lose the hanging orb-seats either. I once had an amazing snooze in one when my plane was delayed for three hours (if only that happened every time I was in the Clubhouse!)

I agree wholeheartedly with you James.

I am an ex-smoker and yes I now avoid smoking areas whenever possible but I honestly believe smoking is a choice and even a right for the individual. As much as I do not want smoke blown in my face, I feel special areas are essential for the smoker. I am not saying go back to allowing smoking in offices, restaurants, on trains etc but be fair allow these 'normal' people to smoke in designated areas.

Going very OT but I was surprised to see an inside smoking area at IAD, pretty much opposite the CH.

I know my OH's dad would make the switch from BA if VS had a smoking area / terrace at the LHR CH.

There are no official airside smoking areas airside at LHR or LGW.

Provision of outside smoking areas is down to the owners of each airport. They have chosen not to provide them airside.

I know the CH sky garden has been used but it is still not an official smoking area and the CH staff have been known to close it completely if they find people smoking.

They have only seen the plans and it looks amazing. The CH might be on the right and V-lounge on the left.... not sure that's the right way round

I would pay to use these facilities ........as would many many other people IMO
