Read the same article too... My initial impression is "no thanks" - unless you are in First Class with a very spacious seat & shower facilities. Way too long to be spent in a pressurised carbon-fibre tube.
On a journey that long, I'd far rather go indirect & break the journey for a few hours / even a day or two en-route. Gives you chance to stretch your legs / shower / sleep properly (depending on the length of the break). 17hrs in a Y class seat - sorry, but no.
I thought exactly the same - are they offering an F cabin on the 789? They have 230 seats so 30 less than VS, so presumably there is a little more space kicking around somewhere?
I have to agree, 10/11 hours are probably the limit for me too, although there are a few Ultra Long Haul 17/18 hour flights already - not entirely sure if I would want to be on one mind!

Qantas are certainly milking the PR from being the first to have a commercial flight from London to Australia, although they did fly a special trial with a 747-400 to Sydney, albeit without payload
Speaking to friends today who fly to Perth, the response was no way, thats far to long in the air without a proper chance to walk around and breath normal air, they wouldnt use it...

As previously tipped by Australian Business Traveller, the Qantas Dreamliners will have
42 business class seats in a 1-2-1 layout
28 premium economy seats in four rows of 2-3-2
166 economy seats arranged 3-3-3, but with a comfy 32 inch seat pitch

I'd definitely give it a go in this

Qantas are claiming their new PE will be revolutionary and are keeping it under wraps until next year but the speculation is that a version of this might be offered.

Economy looks good - lovely big screen - but the thought of sitting in it for 17 hours makes me shudder

If thats not a sexy looking PE... I don't know what is!

Fly's a little too much.
It's Thompson Aero's Cozy Suite. http://www.thompsonaero.com/cozysuite
It certainly looks different. I wonder if it's just this particular render but the person on the far left gets a bit short-changed with no headrest to sleep against and, as far as I can see, no seat power unless it's in a different place we can't see.
